Missing One Of The New Landing Gears?

I'm talking about this one in particular:

From the looks of it, it was to be a replacement for this ugly old thing:

So, does anyone know the deal? Was it canned for some reason?

Or have I installed the latest update wrong somehow?

Well, the "ugly old thing" has spinning wheels at least. Wheels on new ones are not spinning and don't have steering.

Well to me, the, what you call, "ugly old thing" is actually a "beautiful old thing" that fits with the sleek plane-parts. The big new landing gears are by that notion "ugly new things" that only fit with the "equally ugly new Mk1 inline cockpit".

I don't want to get under anyone's nails with calling it ugly, but the old part has some real problems with texture (Not only that it uses a huge bloaty texture sheet) and doesn't match with the new plane parts.

But, I hope not to argue "which is better" and just find more information about what happened with the replacement gear?

It's my wager that the 2nd smallest size gear role was already and adequately fulfilled by the old landing gear bays and thus the new one deemed "not needed"?

Though, I'm having a hard time getting a "word of god" post about it. Not a lot of stuff on the matter to be found indeed.

I too have not seen much about this, but then there have been a lot of other discussions with the release of 1.0+
