Does anyone know where I can get a good functional car for KSP 1.0.2?

Recommended Posts

When I play KSP, I'm usually not very creative and I honestly don't have a clue how to build rovers or rockets that can actually orbit. Anywhere I can get a working car?

Do I seriously have to make a rude comment to get noticed?

I suppose I'll just go sit in the corner of my room and brood until this question is answered and I can stop whining over a game.

If you just want to call me out that I'm stupid in a way that only I can understand, then please just not comment or acknowledge my existence. This is probably a figment of my imagination. Isn't that what life is? A figment of a god's imagination?

I don't have an answer for you, but I will reply. I've seen people show off a few "cars" here on the forum. I'm not sure what it would take to find them. Do people still use that space port thingy? Maybe there are some cars there. I like building rovers but haven't tried in the new versions. I hope they improved the wheels!

Woh, slow your roll there buddy. It can take up to a few hours for someone to respond to a post.

I suggest looking over in The Spacecraft Exchange and browsing for a bit. There are all sorts of cool cars, rovers, and pretty much anything else you can think of if you just dig a bit.

Wow man, melodramatic much?

I've built a good number of what could be referred to as "cars" in KSP, and can tell you that with the current aero, it's difficult to make fast cars (unless you install an alternate atmo mod (FAR, NEAR, etc) or alter the physics thru the debug menu (alt+F12))

However, here are some examples of what I've made:

(The bottom one completed a circumnavigation of Kerbin... you can visit the thread via hyperlink in my signature))

Personally, I usually start with a long girder, then slap some stuff onto that. I've found the most exciting rovers have propulsion other than just the electric wheels: I usually strap some fuel tanks and jet engines onto the rover, for that extra speed and excitement ;)

I usually prefer the TR-2L "Ruggedized" wheels, as they can withstand the most punishment, and look cool to boot.

Tweakscale is INVALUABLE in my opinion, and can really add to the creativeness of your vehicle (note the LES hood ornament in one of those pics :P )

If you haven't had any success yet, keep trying! KSP is all about learning. I've played somewhere near 800+ hours, and still learn new stuff all the time!

A final note: if you're looking to download completed (and functioning) vehicles, I suggest visiting the Spacecraft Exchange sub-forum, where you can find all sorts of awesome stuff :)
