Please fix the new Cursor or everything that interacts with it.

Recommended Posts

@Squad - Since all the info regarding an object is displayed below the cursor, sometimes (many times) the info is blotted out underneath the cursor. Now that the cursor is bigger, the problem is compounded.

Either make it smaller OR move the info display above the object OR make the cursor semi-transparent when data is displayed OR make the cursor point down instead of up. Something... Anything....

Thank you for listening. Apologies if this specific item has been mentioned before.

EDIT: If you don't think this is important, then don't reply to the thread and let it sink down into the nether regions of this forum. No need to distract people or waste your time.

There's an extremely simple solution to your problem. It's called moving the cursor. If you're talking about the KER info windows, that's KER's problem and should be brought up in the relevant thread.

If you're talking about the VAB infos, I've never seen any issue wth the cursor blocking those out. Unless your screen resolution is appallingly low, that shouldn't be a problem.

Moving the cursor... Sure. (Doctor, it hurts when I do this... OK so don't so that...)

Since you don't see it as a problem then you should consider yourself lucky.

27" retina iMac here - what resolution would you like?

Also, I made no mention of any mods at all - why bring up KER? This is not about KER or any mods at all.

In general, the positioning of the cursor, the info displayed, and objects being selected do in fact overlap. With the old cursor it was not so much of a problem, but with the new fatter cursor it is now just a bit over the line.

It should be addressed.

This is a bit of a nit-pickish point of you ask me. I've never noticed this before and likely never would have, had you not mentioned it, because I'm already in the habit of moving the cursor away from whatever I'm reading anyways. Relevant XKCD comic:

This is not about workflow, its about a clean user interface.

Yes, it might be a nit-pick, but it remains a valid issue from my perspective.

KSP contines to keep info away from the user, or places it in discontiguous spaces in the interface. The Cursor now begins to creep into a visual blocker at times - which adds to the problem.

It doesn't need to be fixed NOW, but it needs to be on the improvement radar.

I'm sure it's not impossible to plug in your own custom cursor and use that instead. Perhaps someone has a tutorial on how to do such a thing?

Edit: I'm pretty sure you could also find an option to use the standard Windows cursor instead. I personally don't know how, but I would be surprised if such an option were not available.

A very valid approach...

...but not one I would expect an average user to know about, or care about, or to be happy to hear about.

Just for clarification: I'm not seeing help on this (although all your above suggestions are well received and appreciated). I'm asking for renewed focus on cleaning up the stock user interface - with the cursor being the straw which broke my Kamels back...

Do you track which word you read with the cursor? You already move it around a lot when you play the game, I think you can spend a little bit to move it away.

I don't see a problem. It's easily solvable, taking little effort, which you need to do anyways. It's like blaming a pencil manufacturer for their pencil being in the way of your writing, when you could very easily move it. The default cursor on Windows (and I think just about every OS) is above the text. It's customizable, too. Sure, it's not so big, but the new KSP cursor is only a bit bigger.

I rather enjoy the new cursor.

I very happy that you enjoy the new cursor. I do not mind it either, it is quite acceptable from a design and visual perspective. I'm concerned with the integration of the cursor position and the various information objects appearing in the VAB, Tracking centre, map and craft views.

It's Ok to disagree with my perspectives - I'm fine with that - but please do not insinuate or criticise my play style since I have not included that in this thread.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
