Contracts and docking

I just got a big contract that I accepted before reading the fine print. So now I need to have lab orbiting the Mun with room for 20 Kerbals and 6000 units of liquid fuel. I don't have the engines available to lift such a monster. Can I assemble the pieces in orbit and meet the requirements of the contract?

I haven't explicitly tried it, but I'm pretty sure that should work because docked ships count as one vessel for the games purposes.

As long as all the pieces are launched after the contract is accepted, you should be fine

I can confirm that for me, after I assembled a base from pieces in orbit, all the checks turned green, except for the landing on minmus part because I wasn't there yet.

Also, the Mk3 passenger module holds 16 kerbals and only masses 6.5 tons. Just sayin'. ;-)
