Part categories by mod

Sometimes it's really hard to find parts that belong to a particular mod in the vehicle assembly. I wish there was a mod that added categories or filters that display all parts belonging to a particular mod. Does one exist, or is it a possibility to create one?

Does that work with 1.02?

As for manufacturers, I thought that would do it, but unfortunately for some mods, the authors decided to split parts between several different manufacturer names, and sometimes even using a stock manufacturer name.

I tried the KSP Interstellar extended mod the other day to see what it was like. Turns out I am far too much of an idiot to get my head round all of it. I did notice that once it was installed the part tabs had been extended to include separate tabs for docking ports, electrics, control surfaces, wings etc. It was mod friendly as non stock parts were all in the correct places. Once i'd done a fresh install and had my usual mods back on it reverted back to stock. Must be something in KSPI E or one of its dependencies.

I find the stock filters to be a little bit finicky and busy for my OCD. Think i might just have to make custom sets with my mods and stop being lazy :D

You could try the Filter extensions mod. it can be found here:

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/104231-1-0-x-Filter-Extensions-2-1-2-%28May-17%29

This is one of my "must have" mods. It's small, lightweight, and uses the stock filter system. It even adds a filter just for mods. It will give you a tab for any mod you have installed by looking at your gamedata fold and adding a tab for every folder in there that has parts. So for example if you have both KIS and KAS installed, both will have there own tab. Or if you have IR installed along with the rework parts, then all of that will be listed on one tab since both mods are installed in the same folder.

Hope it helps.

That is exactly what I was looking for, but doesn't seem to be working with all the mods.

Under "Filter by Manufacturer" there will be an automatically created tab for every GameData folder. The additional categories for the larger mods have to be manually added like this. Change the highlighted line to be "value = yourModFolderName" (list multiple values separated by commas) and add to a *.cfg file somewhere in GameData.

PS

You can also select a manufacturer, and then right click on Filter by function and select another filter to apply to get a similar effect (stock feature/bug ;)).
