Game Ruining Bug

Recommended Posts

*WORKAROUND*

If this bug happens to you, theres one way to keep it from ruining your game that I've found. You may lose a bit of saved progress however.

1) You will know it happens to you when you get the screen below.

2) Quickly enter your task manager and kill the process for KSP. For me its KSP.86_64

3) You'll lose progress but if you do it quick before the game autosaves it will hopefully be coo

The same thing happened to me. Had a successful landing on Kerbin, did a EVA with one pilot (second pilot was rescued from orbit). The EVA pilot fell (on a hillside) and appeared to fell through the hill. Then black screen. Then to this screen you show (i dont remember how exactly). I think it is the tracking station without Kerbin. Also the second pilot rescue mission was announced fail (killed).

All the mods were downloaded yesterday so relatively up to date.

In my case as well it happened right after I did a failed EVA on the mun. My munar lander was on its side with the door facing down towards the ground. I foolishly commanded my kerbal to exit the vehicle, and he fell through the mun surface, killing him. After that, I went to 'Tracking Station' and started to rapidly select different 'debris' for deletion, including the now empty mun lander. It was during the transition between screens where I got stuck as well.

Maybe related to your story, maybe not. Infinitely frustrating, that’s for sure.

I have 3 flights headed to Duna - one satellite, one station and one manned. As soon as I switch to the manned flight to set up a maneuver node it happens to me, 3 times now. I only have 2 mods: Mechjeb and KSE - both the most up to date releases. The game has been very buggy as of very late. This being the worst.

I have the savefile that is still in that state. Can I get something relevant from there?

I do not believe a savefile by its self will be usable. I may be wrong on that, but I searched this guide:

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/92229-How-To-Get-Support-%28READ-FIRST%29

And it seems they mention everything but saved games. If you still have the output.log that would definitely be useful. If not, just wait until it happens again (god forbid).

I think I figured it out. One manifestation of it at least.

I crashed a huge rocket into the ocean after attempting to get it into orbit. I probably hit 80k at my highest.

When the rocket crashed into the ocean, several parts of the rocket flew back into space from the rebound. Specifically, I watched a probdyne core fly from the ocean all the way past the moon. I had to select the probodyne core with [ to see it. When it was past the moon and I had it selected, I pressed the Map key, and it gave me the same screen.

This time it was on Linux 64bit.

I couldn't do pastebin because it was too big
