Reorienting Lift Vector

Recommended Posts

What, you don't want to fly a craft that points down at a 60 degree angle when it's flying?

Sarcasm aside, I just went into the SPH to mess around with it, starting with the lift vector facing backwards, and it doesn't look like it's possible to get it facing straight up, only to make it closer to backwards than before. I'm not a plane expert, so maybe there's a trick I don't know, but it doesn't look to be possible to me.

Also, is that gonna be an F-117?

Hard to tell, but you've got lots of lift surfaces sloping down to the front, which will push your total lift vector to the back (as those exert lift both down and to the rear). I hate to say it, but it just doesn't look like an aerodynamically effective design.

Personally I would start over.

What does it look like in the Space Plane hanger? It may be based on an upward motion as it's in the VAB.
The VAB assumes upward motion, try grabbing the root part and pointing it upwards, like a rocket would be.

That IS the Spaceplane hangar. :P XD

But yeah, it's way too unstable most likely because of the slanted wings. Especially near the back.

Moving those with the rotation gizmo really messes with the lift vector, but messes with the design as well... :(

Arrgh. I suppose I could thin the wings a bit.
