I need some help with this game

I need to be inspired to play this game again, but I'm having trouble doing it. I really, really want to play the game because I haven't even played with the 1.0 features yet, but I'm having trouble finding the inspiration to do so.

Either take a break or set a goal for yourself. One time I decided to stay on Kerbin and build some boats, land jet-powered VTOLs on them, that sort of thing, good times.

Well thats the thing, I have been taking a break lol. Haven't played since the middle of february or so.

And I will check out the challenges.

Well designed challenges are one of my favorite things about the KSP forums. You'll find something that interests you, whether you're into recreating historic missions, doing crazy things that push the limits of KSP physics, or trying to pull off super efficient grand tours.

Your first challenge in the new version will probably be "re-learn how to get to orbit"! After that, try "complete the tech tree" and/or "obtain all science from Minmus" or something like that if you're playing career mode, or mess around with the new mining and refining tools. Set up a self-sustaining fuel depot in Minmus orbit--it's always nice to be able to refuel on your way out of town so you can start your interplanetary journey with full tanks!

One thing you might want to try is reading up on what some of our own space programs here on Earth have accomplished (or planned to accomplish). I like to browse sites like the Encyclopedia Astronautica and Beyond Apollo to see if anything stands out as something I'd like to replicate, whether simply as a craft design or as a whole mission.

I struggled myself after 450+ hours in game, but i read a few of the mission reports (Brotoro's are excellent) and that gave me the inspiration to start again. I got past the initial grindy parts of career mode, and am starting to really enjoy the challenge. There are a lot of nail biting moments now.

I was traditionally a sandbox player, but i found that setting my own goals become a bit same same after a while.

I have also found if i watch anything to do with some notable space missions (Voyager, NH, Apollo, Rosetta etc) i have an intense urge to jump into KSP and do it myself.

I have the Eve-X program, a base on Eve with periodic crew change and planet exploration.

Each part of this program is a challenge... Every time KSP updates, something change and all the Eve-X have to be re-done... and I say... "Challenge Accepted" :P

Frankly, I don't understand why you need other people to inspire you. Usually inspiration for anything comes from within and if that spark isn't there then there's no one that can lit a fire for you. At the end of the day you need to ask yourself what it is you really want to do. Why aren't you interested in the game anymore? Is it too difficult? Too complicated?

If you feel you're not prepared to "tuck in" then there are other things in life you can spend time on until you feel you're ready. The game isn't going anywhere. This community will probably not go anywhere either (and most of us will send postcards from the Mun) so we're here when you want to return.

The idea of starting a thread to ask people to convince you playing a computer game makes no sense to me.

Started playing again after watching some old Scott Manely vids.

And naturally, I promptly got to orbit on the first try, and had enough fuel to probably do a good orbit of Mun and possibly an orbit of Minmus (or at least a flyby).

Don't know why so many are having issues flying with the new aerodynamics, though then again, it does kinda reveal just how many people did actually use FAR. I've had FAR as a permanent addition to the game since I first tried planes, and the new aero wasn't any sort of shock at all.

My crowning achievement thus far has been a tie between my probe landings on Duna and Eve. The Eve one survived, though it had little use because it was merely intended to be a flyby. The Duna one was DOA even though the completely automated ship performed smoothly. Forgot to set the interplanetary dish to target Kerbin so by the time I was halfway out from Kerbin, I could no longer give any commands to the lander.

Chances are I'm going to set up a Duna mission. Its high time I landed a Kerbal there.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
