V2 with working transport---By AMRSD & Sgt_flyer. Now version 2! With more rotation!

Here it is! The long-awaited V2 with transport by AMRSD!

Now Version 2! With a better bearing, designed by Sgt_flyer!

This craft includes a V2 rocket, a Meiler-Wagen transport, which actually works, and a Hanomag SS-100.

Beginning to lift.

Retract the launch gantry!

Vertical, ready to launch.

Liftoff!

Maybe we should check that guidance system.

Yep.

Thanks to Sgt_flyer, who devised the base transport.

Instructions:

  1. First, this craft is very finicky, you will most likely have to tweak some sepratron values to get it to work.
  2. Launch the craft, and fill the truck with Kerbals. (Might I suggest this great mod: Take Command)
  3. Hit stage.
  4. Drive to your desired location (Better be somewhere flat).
  5. Stop the truck, then switch to the trailer and hit the parking brakes on that. (If the airbrakes deploy, set brakes to AG1)
  6. Hit AG1 on the trailer, to deploy the stability legs.
  7. Undock the front docking port first, then the back one.
  8. Hit AG2, and the rocket will (hopefully), be vertical, and stable, when the sepratrons burn out. (Sometimes a bit of W or S can help) If it isn't, then go back to the SPH, and adjust the farthest forward sepratron's fuel value.
  9. Hit the gears button, the hit AG3 (Maybe twice) to retract the launch gantry landing legs.
  10. Stage, and the launch gantry will retract.
  11. Drive far, far, far away.
  12. Launch the rocket by staging.
  13. ?
  14. ?
  15. Vengeance.

Well looks like Kerbals aren't peaceful creatures after all lol. =)

While being a good idea, the hinge made of small landing gear that links the semi-truck/trailer to the missile is very glitchy (I made one myself but before 1.0 with just a couple LV1-R), I think it's because while building you or the other builders didn't realize that the new gear surface mesh is slightly away from their texture skin, check out Jon144 uniroller to see one that works. And I also think many parts aren't really needed.

I like it though

Gah, I cannot rep you again yet!

I may may have to borrow/steal that truck and use it as a tow vehicle for my vintage plane pack. They really need some help when it comes to taxiing. What say you to this, good man?

hehe :P yeh, bearings made of those small wheels require a lot of tweakings to work properly :P (i would know, i used them in my jet engine pack ^^ :P) hint : the new fairings allows for quite nice, compact and low part count bearing bodies :P

@Mad rocket scientist - do you need a fairing based bearing for the linkage ? :) - it'll be roughly as high as the fairing part, + the height of the wheels :)

This is pretty much a manned heavy missile xD

Freaking spread reps -__-

Yep, the redstone was almost exactly the same design as this.

Oooooh, IT'S HERE!!

I'VE BEEN WAITING LONG FOR THIS! :D

Amazing work! I can't give enough rep for this

Thank you!

NICE!

It's a much better and streamline version of my old Pershing I TEL. Thanks for the design work... :D :D

...Peaceful, or not, applications incoming.

I can't wait to see what you do with it! ;)

Yeah, it's a bit glitchy, but it doesn't need to rotate very much, so it works okay.

Please do!

That would be great! Thanks a lot!
