Discreet (not just aircraft anymore) Parts. (Updated 21-06-15)

Dont force it, take your time for it. :) Another proposal, though: tweakscale compatibility? saves some time and you dont have to bother about other sizes...or requests about that.

You know there are ways to make a MM that adds tweakscale to all parts that don't have it ?

Did someone say folding airplane? No? Well I have one anyway.

Warning...do not pack wings mid-flight.

hey electronicfox,

any chance to do one side folding wing version too? this way we can have all steering surfaces foldable :)

another idea would be to make some kind of adapter (short tank?) connecting 2 of your elipsoid structures so the profile is smoother (this would be important for nuFAR)

I am going to add small deployable surface-mountable winglets as this goes on. As for the adapters, the models right now are entirely prototypes to make sure the idea actually works, the wing-housing especially will get a redesign later.

i know it exists, but i wouldnt ask for it if i knew how to do it, more so if it is planned anyway. I didnt demand anything i asked...electronicfox to be precise.

I mocked up something quick and small for a control surface design. It clips about a fifth of the way into a 1m part. To compensate for the space-saving, it will be pretty heavy for its size.

(I missed this question earlier)

The wings are seperate from the fuselage part, so if you want a single wing, by all means go for it.

Obviously you are doing a lot but since you doing the wings, you think you could fold some landing gear into that same part? That would be extremely cool so that everything is hidden and deployable when needed.

If I made everything deployable from these particular parts, the modularity would start getting lost. I am however good with making landing gear that folds much flatter.

I will take it! Landing gear and landing legs for the blimp parts would be really cool.

A suggestion for later: Airbrakes? Or maybe rectangular winglets usable for stability OR braking? :) Slap it sideways on your fuselage, extend, scratch your pilot from the front window.

Airbrakes are already pretty discreet, but perhaps some smaller variations would be good.

Thanks to Dasoccerguy's plugin for Blender, I can bring in craft files from KSP to Maya. Which means I can use them as good references against my new parts without having to compile all the time. This should make getting good forms and texturing a bit easier.

You can also see the true scale of the tiny deployable control surface.

Oh, my, these are exactly what I need for my shuttle. I love the deployable wings. Are you planning to make one with just a single, perhaps larger, wing, designed to be used in symmetry?

Edit: Suppose I should have read the thread first. I'll be eagerly awaiting the release of these parts!

'discreet' is not the first adjective which comes to my mind regarding the stock airbrakes on a 1.25m fuselage :D but no big deal, either tweakscale or refurbishing another one will do for me, too.

Last but not least: You Sir, are awesome!

The first batch is very nearly complete, I'll be including the tiny wing with these. The first wing is now surface mountable, I just didnt like the fuselage part for it. But as a result they are also heavier and more expensive.

One problem I seem to have is with colliders. When the wings fold, they bring their colliders in with them and start causing havok with certain other parts. I'm wondering if there is a way to either switch off colliders via code, or to have them ignore all other colliders on the vessel.
