Colliders For This Shape?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I am seeking some input / opinions.

What do you feel would be the best approach to create colliders for this shape?

(Semi-conical shape with cut through hole).

Seems a little tricky, no matter what I am trying.

Maybe, I'm missing something. :)

A ring of trapezoidal colliders is probably your best bet if you need it to be hollow. Expensive though.

This is exact approach I used for the tapered end ring from FusTek Station Parts, and it has worked quite well.

Thank you for the input :)

I guess expensiveness is unavoidable!

I could alter the shape of the hollow section, or the exterior hull if that could produce a simpler way to create the colliders.

Does it have to be hollow, collider-wise? If you don't intend for things to be snapped to the inside, or for Kerbals to walk through it, or for other parts to mount in such a way as to overlap that space, it could be made with a two-tiered truncated cone (12-sided is usually pretty good). Otherwise, yeah, expensive it is.
