Out of all curiosity.. Is KSP addictive in some way?

KSP: Owned the game since 1.0 hit. 166 hours playtime.

Fallout New Vegas: Owned since 2011. 1084 hours playtime.

KSP is not addictive at all. The fact that my KSP hours have incremented faster than almost any other game I've ever played is irrelevant (XCOM: Enemy Unknown incremented faster, but its total is only 169 hours), as is the fact that I play most games for less than 20 hours total, including spending 29 hours total on Saints Row IV. The datapoints are irrelevant. KSP is entirely non-addictive, and is safe for small children, and the elderly.

Now I must finish launching atmospheric rovers to Duna & Laythe.

I've been playing since 0.18.3, and Kerbal is honestly the only game that has ever been able to keep my interest for such a long period of time. I don't know if that's addictive, but it's certainly satisfying enough to not grow tired of easily.

Over 600hrs for me now, Addictive? Not entirely, but Ill lay this story out...

Eve Online = I was a pure addict. 6 Accounts, thankfully no job due to recession and played in broken stretches prob 12 hrs a day. Why was it addictive? Well it wasn't broken when I was playing and it has a very rich meta-game. So even when you are not playing you can be involved, weather it be blogging or myself (podcasting) and then there is the RMT and Swag on offer. this keeps you wanting more / a collection if you will.

It was highly addictive and I could see its affects on me IRL.

I admit, I have an addictive personality by nature, ill focus in on something till i figure ive mastered it or tire of it then move on to the next project only to return when im tired of that. Classic ADD right there.

If only I could put this energy into RL imagine my success !

I think the only thing making Kerbal not addictive is its lack of stablity, lack of merchandise, lack of much content outside of twitch/forums etc I think it needs to go straight to 2.0 production and be overhauled somewhat.

Addiction or Love? I think KSP is love for me. it inspires in a constructive way. Is free of us vs them mentality and promotes collaboration. It rewards for success and the only punishment is thru your own lack of care or foresight. It has taught me math. something I have struggled with my entire life

and has provided a platform I can use to inspire my son to have a go and be creative.

Man, do I identify with this I could have written it myself.

You know what? I began studying a university grade and I actually put my effort in a constructive path. I am almost half way.

Just to let you know it can be done. You won't get rid of that obsession, but there is a way to cope with it. Besides, it's not your fault. It's EVE Online's.

I also agree on KSP being a perfect excuse to play with kids, both in terms of education and creativity.
