KASA Career (Kerbal Aeronautics and Space Agency)

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I made this thread in advance to a new career mode profile that I will make, called KASA, or the Kerbal Aeronautics and Space Agency. In this career mode, I will post pictures and reports of my missions, from the shortest one at the start to (hopefully) long ones to the Mun, and beyond, all the way to Eeloo! I will probably post the first update in a few days, as right now I am a little busy, and I will perhaps post 1-2 missions each day after that! I am sorry for any mistakes I make along the way, as I am pretty new to KSP, about a week old. So yeah, the first update will be in a few days, I hope you will enjoy this! :)

Hello everyone! I have a few screenshots from my very first mission, Jupiter I. It was a textbook flight with Jeb as the pilot, and he performed well. Other than that I did 2 other suborbital missions, nothing big, with Bob and Bill. But the next mission I will post on here, it will be the first KASA orbital flight! :) Here are the screenshots, what do you think?

We have a liftoff! (Don't screw this up, Jeb.)

screenshot14.png

A little.. Small. -Jeb

screenshot13.png

Ascending.. "Yeeeehaw!" -Jeb

screenshot15.png

This is as high as we can go. "But.. But.." -Jeb

And now, for a big milestone in KASA's history - achieving orbit! With the new dual-stage Mercury I, KASA has sent a Kerbal back to space and recovered him safely; a Kerbal by the name of Jebadiah Kerman! Proving to be the agency's best kerbonaut with his outstanding piloting skills on some supersonic experimental aircraft, Jebediah Kerman has been selected to complete yet another first. It was suspenseful for everyone in mission control, especially Gene Kerman, but they pulled it off!

CDR: Jebediah "Jeb" Kerman

Flight Director: Eugene "Gene" Kerman

CapCom: Bill Kerman

And so, our brave Kerbonaut blasts off on Mercury I!

Bill: "We have a liftoff, for Mercury I, on the very first orbital mission!"

Jeb: "Yeeeehaww!"

screenshot45.jpg

The climb to orbit continues, with the second stage, with the LV-909, or Terrier, now firing!

Jeb: "All systems reading nominal, climbing to orbit. What a ride, this is a fine rocket!"

screenshot46.png

Jebadiah Kerman is now in orbit, after a nominal ascent!

Bill: "You've reached orbit, Jeb, congratulations. Begin orbital ops."

Jeb: "Uh, yeah, science.. Let me look around a bit, and mess with the craft controls."

Bill: *sigh*

screenshot52.pngscreenshot51.png

He gazes out, wondering about..?

Jeb: "Wow, I bet no one's ever seen this before.. It's nice."

Bill: "Jeb, time's a ticking.."

Jeb: "Yeah, yeah!"

screenshot49.png

Now, he does some science with the Science Jr!

Bill: "There we go, do some science. That way we can get to the Mun."

Jeb: "I prefer flying the craft, not doing science.."

screenshot53.png

Now it is time for the very first EVA, or spacewalk, in Kerbal history!

Bill: "Time for EVA. Remember, easy with the propellant, we don't want rescue mission."

Jeb: "At last, at last!"

Jeb: "I'm out now, letting go of the craft and floating free for a bit."

Bill: "Just don't go far.."

Jeb: "Hahaaa!"

screenshot55.png

After 2 hours in orbit, it is time to do the retrograde burn.

Bill: "Time for the deorbit burn, or retrograde."

Jeb: "But I just got here, 2 hours ago!"

Bill: "Listen, there will be other missions. Start. The. Burn."

Jeb: *starts burn, loud sigh*

screenshot58.png

The capsule separates from the second stage, to have a safe reentry!

Jeb: "Separation complete, en route to the reentry point."

screenshot60.png

The Mun is in sight now, but Jeb should keep the craft pointed retrograde..

Jeb: "Hey, is that the Mun?! Whoa, lemme turn around the craft!"

Bill: "Hey, Jeb, focus! Focus, and point back retrograde, unless you want to go down in a big fireball."

Jeb: "Technically, I already am going to go down in a big fireball, but fine.." *grumble* "I'll be on the surface of that moon one day."

screenshot61.png

Re-entry!

Jeb: "Whooo, this is great! Haha, what a wild ride! Let the G's come! And no Bill, because comm blackout on reentry!"

Bill: "I hope he's not doing anything incredibly, incredibly stupid.."

screenshot63.png

The drogue chutes deploy, to provide a safe splashdown..

Jeb: "What, it's over...?"

screenshot64.png

And our hero, Jeb, is back!

Jeb: "That was great, but maybe a little longer next time?!"

screenshot67.png

All right! I hoped you enjoyed that, for Jeb sure did! The mission was 2 hours and a half in total, and Jeb was picked up soon after and he returned to the Kerbal Space Center. Next, our brave Kerbals will shoot for the moon, but a few orbital and probe missions may precede that..

I hope you enjoyed this, and I know that it was a very big post, if anyone knows any better image hostng service it would be a great help! As for the heatshield being covered, (there was one!) it was because I needed to recover the science from the Science Jr, and I am not sure how the shield would be if placed on the Jr. Anyways, more adventures will follow soon! :)

Another update, this time a rather basic flight, but it was my first spaceplane, and Valentina got the honor of flying it! It was a simple aircraft with a jet engine that went to a zone in order to complete a contract, then it came back. Here are 3 pictures!

Here's the Aeras I!

Valentina: "This will be fun!"

screenshot68.png

Valentina: "Wow, the Mun.."

screenshot70.png

Valentina: "I'm safely landed, but what a great flight!"

screenshot69.png

The flight was great, and I love flying spaceplanes! :)

Yes you should! In my opinion the more people share their achievements the better. New to KSP or old, the mission reports are a great way to see what the other space programs are up to. You are getting views even if there are no replies

((I have some more missions done, but should I keep posting them or no?))

Yes you should, especially if putting the pictures and text together makes the mission more fun for you to fly--it certainly does for me :)

It's up to you whether this thread should be a complete record of all KASA's missions large and small, or a "highlight reel" of your best stuff. If the former, then by all means post everything--then you and everyone else will be able to look back and enjoy the complete story. If reader reaction and feedback is what you're looking for though, then missions that are unique, difficult and/or crazy are going to tend to attract more attention than the early career flights.

All right, in that case I will keep posting them. I'm more new to KSP, and this is my sort of newbie career mode profile! : P

Actually, it does make it more fun to fly! There's a story behind it all too! I believe I will keep posting the highlights for now, and perhaps do another career mode report with every single mission. One of the problems I have though, that is discouraging me a little bit, is that it is very cumbersome to post the images using the current image hosting service I use. Do you two know of a better, easier one? And thank you both!

Will post next part later today!

I totally agree with this, coming up with a story and sharing your progress with others makes even small accomplishments much more enjoyable. Even failures can add to the story!

As for image hosting, I use imgur. It's not the easiest solution ever but this forum allows you to embed imgur albums which might be a good way to post images depending on the format you are going for.

We may have very well reached a crucial point in KASA's history, for a Kerbal has landed on the moon of Minmus! No, not that one, the one that is clearly visible and easy to fake a landing on! The other one, the one that is mistaken for particles on the telescope lenses! After unmanned missions to the Mun, we are ready! With the multiple stage Kapollo II, crewed by Jebediah Kerman, our top Kerbonaut! He landed in the Greater Flats of Minmus, did some EVA's and performed science experiments!

CDR: Jebediah "Jeb" Kerman

Flight Director: Eugene "Gene" Kerman

CapCom: Bob Kerman

Our brave Kerbonaut blasts off en route to Minmus, which will not be a short trip!

Bob: "10.. 9.. 8.. 7.. 6.. 5.. Engine start.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. And liftoff! We have a liftoff! Liftoff for Kapollo II, which will send the very first Kerbal to another celestial body!"

Jeb: "And that Kerbal is me, haha! I bet Bob's jealous.."

screenshot93.png

After a nominal ascent and staging process, he is now in a stable orbit!

Bob: "Start the burn, Jeb!"

Jeb: "Awwwahhh!"

Gene: "Hey, come on! Don't mock me!"

screenshot75.png

Now that the burn is completed, he is en route to Minmus!

Jeb: "Wow, look at Kerbin.. It's so small. And smaller, and smaller. And smaller. And even smaller!"

Bob: "Will you stop saying smalle-"

Jeb: "And smaller!"

screenshot78.png

screenshot79.png

Between Minmus and Kerbin, Jebediah Kerman is drifting!

screenshot81.png

screenshot96.png

Jeb: "Ooh, Kerbol.."

Bob: "No! Don't look directly at the Kerbol!"

Jeb: "Aaaaagh!"

Bob: "Jeb? Jeb? Are you okay?"

Jeb: "..."

Jeb: "Hahahaha! I fooled you!"

Bob: "I swear, when he gets back, I'll kill him!"

screenshot99.png

First view of Minmus..

Jeb: "Wow, there's Minmus!"

screenshot100.png

screenshot101.png

screenshot102.png

After a quick burn, he is in orbit of Minmus, and closer to landing!

Jeb: "Burn completed, on time."

Bob: "How can he be so serious sometimes, and so immature other times.."

screenshot103.png

screenshot104.png

Coming in to land!

Jeb: "Wow, looks very nice..!"

Bob: "Focus and burn Retro!"

screenshot106.png

screenshot107.png

screenshot109.png

Landing legs deployed!

Jeb: "Gear, legs, whatever you want to call them, are deployed!"

screenshot112.png

Almost landed..

Jeb: "15 metres.."

screenshot114.png

History has been made, as a Kerbal has landed on Minmus!

Jeb: "I've landed! I've landed!"

Bob: "G-Good job! W-we've done it! " :D

Gene: "Good job, everyone!"

screenshot115.png

screenshot117.png

screenshot118.png

Time for history, with an EVA.

Bob: "Jeb, it's time for the EVA!"

Jeb: "Why are you so excited?"

Bob: "Scieeenceee!"

Jeb:

Jeb: "Have fun, heh."

screenshot119.png

A Kerbal has walked on another world!

Jeb: "That's one big step for me, one small leap for Kerbalkind!"

Bob: *gasp*;.; "He messed it up.. Big time.."

Jeb: "Whoops."

Jeb: "That's one small step for me, one giant leap for Kerbalkind!"

Bob: ;.;

Jeb: "Cheer up. I feel like a superhero!"

screenshot125.png

screenshot126.png

screenshot127.png

History in the making!

Jeb: "Flag has been planted!"

screenshot129.png

The first EVA comes close to the end, but there will be a second!

Bob: "This is as far as you can go, come back and you can do another later."

Jeb: "Fine.."

screenshot131.png

screenshot132.png

The time has come for the second EVA!

Jeb: "I love being here, it's so much nicer than in that small craft!"

Bob: "All right, good. We want you to EVA out using your RCS to the slopes over there, and collect some science. Then return!"

Jeb: "Awwaahhh! Oops, sorry Gene!"

screenshot133.png

screenshot134.png

screenshot135.png

screenshot137.png

After returning to the lander, it is time for the third and final EVA!

Jeb: "Let's go!"

screenshot138.png

screenshot139.png

screenshot141.png

Goodbye, Minmus..

Jeb: *sigh* "I want to come back here one day."

Bob: "For now, just get back to Kerbin! Ignite the engines, I want to see the science!"

screenshot142.png

screenshot144.png

screenshot146.png

screenshot147.png

Preparing for return.

Jeb: "Yeahhh!"

screenshot149.pngscreenshot151.png

After coming back, we have re-entry!

Jeb: "Yeehaw!"

screenshot153.png

Chutes Deployed!

Jeb: "Where did the speed go?"

screenshot156.png

Splashdown, and the end of this mission!

Jeb: "Loved it."

screenshot157.png

Back at the space center!

screenshot158.png

This mission was tons of fun, and my first ever crewed landing! :D

That's what I'm going for, and I will check it out! Sadly, I posted the most recent mission before I saw your post, but thanks!

Mine too, I really like the colors, specifically the colors of the flats, I've always landed on them!

I liked the design a lot, it worked and had good strength. But behind the scenes, I tried to make many rockets, and most exploded. Yeah. At least this one worked!

Thank you, Nich! It was a huge accomplishment, and I am now in the process of preparing to go to other planets! :)

Other planets are nice and shiny and everything, but doesn't KASA need to land on the Mun? How can you call yourself a space agency without a Munar landing? Chop chop!

Maybe some unmanned probes to fly by other planets, though. They are awfully nice and shiny...

Is this 100% Stock, or are you using any mods?

Landwalker, you've got a point! But the thing is, I already have, shortly after my Minmus landing and I am posting it now. I suppose they are a true agency now! I will do that, so far my career has been mainly manned. And no, I am not using any mods, it is 100% stock! : )

Shortly after the Minmus landing, it was decided that it is time to land a Kerbal on the Mun, and that will be Bob Kerman, because we need to optimize our science points! We've already done unmanned missions to the Mun, but this one will be a manned landing, and the craft will be very similar to the Minmus lander, known as Kapollo III! There was an EVA, and lots of science of course!

CDR: Bob Kerman

Flight Director: Eugene "Gene" Kerman

CapCom: Bill Kerman

Here, again, our brave Kerbonaut blasts off again, but this time on a different mission..

Bob: "I can't wait to do science!"

screenshot159.jpg

After reaching a stable and low orbit, he starts burning in order to set up an encounter!

Bill: Keep burning, just a little more..

screenshot160.png

He looks back and sees Kerbin..

Bob: "Wow, it's amazing.. Wow.. Wow.."

Bill: "Bob, it's just Kerbin!"

Bob: "Just wait until you get out here and see it."

screenshot162.png

screenshot163.png

After a suspenseful wait, he executes the burn to get captured into an orbit!

Bob: "Wow, I'm so close!"

screenshot165.png

He is now in a stable orbit!

Bob: "Wow, this is.. This is.."

screenshot167.png

screenshot168.png

screenshot169.png

He begins his descent to the surface!

Bob: "All right, coming down, coming down."

screenshot172.png

A Kerbal has landed on the surface of the Mun!

Bill: "Great job, Bob! You've landed on the Mun!"

Bob: "I can't believe it.."

screenshot196.png

Very shortly after the landing, it is time for an EVA!

Bob: "Coming out of the lander.."

screenshot197.png

screenshot198.png

A Kerbal has set foot on the Mun!

Bob: "That's a small step for me, a giant leap for Kerbals!"

screenshot201.png

Time to plant the flag!

Bob: "Okay, how do I do this again.."

screenshot202.png

screenshot203.png

screenshot204.png

Now he will go to a nearby crater and explore it!

Bob: "Wow, I can do so much science!"

screenshot205.png

screenshot206.png

screenshot207.png

But now, it's time to come back.

Bill: "Time to come back.."

Bob: "Okay.. Now I know how Jeb feels."

screenshot209.png

screenshot210.png

screenshot211.png

He comes back into the lander.

Bob: "Thank you to everyone who made this possible!"

screenshot212.png

screenshot213.png

He will leave the Mun and return home!

Bob: "Let's go!"

screenshot217.png

screenshot218.png

screenshot219.png

Returning to Kerbin..

Bob: "How I missed it!"

screenshot220.png

screenshot222.png

A troublesome reentry with a late separation, but it worked, and he landed!

Bob: "Phew, that was close.."

screenshot224.png

screenshot225.png

screenshot226.png

This mission was also a lot of fun, and next it will be a three Kerbal Minmus mission!

Shortly after the mission with Bob, another mission started! This time, it was a new milestone, for it was a multiple crew mission, with three Kerbals that went to the moon of Minmus to the second time, this time landing with a newer and larger lander, and with a small rover for two Kerbals as well! This was another Kapollo III mission, and there was science, and EVA, again!

CDR: Bill Kerman

Jorwise Kerman

Bob Kerman

Flight Director: Eugene "Gene" Kerman

CapCom: Jeb Kerman

Liftoff, for the very first mission with three Kerbals on!

Jeb: "Darn, look at that acceleration! Go, go!"

screenshot227.png

After a great ascent, they are now in orbit and seperate!

Jeb: "What a nice ascent!"

Bill: "Everything's nominal."

screenshot229.png

screenshot232.png

After doing preparation and executing the burn, they are on their way to Minmus!

Bill: "I see what you mean, Bob.. It's very nice."

screenshot235.png

Then, they see Minmus!

Bill: "Wow, we're going to land on that.."

screenshot237.png

screenshot238.png

screenshot239.png

A quick burn later, and they are in Minmus orbit, all is good!

Bill: "So close, we're here!"

screenshot240.png

After a descent, they are on Minmus!

Bill: "Woooow.."

screenshot254.png

Time for the EVA now!

Bill: "Coming out of the lander.."

screenshot255.png

screenshot257.png

screenshot258.png

Soon, all three are out!

Jorwise: "Hey, wait for me!"

screenshot263.png

screenshot265.png

They set the flag out..

Bill: "For all Kerbals!"

screenshot269.png

Then, they go out a little distance.

Bob: "I like this place."

screenshot273.png

They return, and deploy the rover now!

Bill: "C'mon, get on!"

screenshot331.png

Bob will stay and do some science!

Bob: "See you!"

screenshot330.png

screenshot332.png

screenshot339.png

They got back in, and return to Kerbin!

Bill: "Happy to be home!"

screenshot368.png

screenshot372.png

Back at the space center now!

Bill: "I missed it!"

screenshot158.png

That's it for now, I hope you liked it! It was a lot of fun!
