IVA free camera?

Has anyone tried to make this happen yet? I've been Googling as hard as I can and can't seem to find any answers. Playing with the 'WASD Camera in SPH/VAB' mod has made me wonder if something similar can't be knocked together for IVA mode.

I'm betting the only reason it's not a feature in the actual game is there's no way to keep the camera from clipping through the ship, as IVAs have no colliders. You wouldn't want to release a game with that, but I don't see why a mod couldn't do it

I'm just surprised there aren't more requests for it, I've been assuming there's a big obstacle that I'm ignorant of. I had wondered if maybe there'd be an issue with headless Kerbals based on whoever you hit 'IVA' on *shrug*

But being that there is some extended camera movement for people who use head trackers, I have to believe that there's a way to get free camera happening.

Would it be simpler to just learn how to add new camera 'spots' to cockpits? (y'know how when you double click at the front of the Mk2 cabin and you wind up with a rear facing view of the front seats?)

There are no big technical obstacles aside from keeping the camera inside the craft. KerbTrack allows you to move around inside the craft by moving your head for example. You could use it as a reference for IVA movement as it has already worked around the issues involved.
