Cannot activate when stowed.

How can I remove the "Cannot activate when stowed" restriction? I'm not talking about engines inside of cargo bays, I mean when when engines clip into parts by the tiniest fraction they don't activate because of that. for example I cannot rotate separatrons to separate because they clip with the thing i'm trying to separate.

Don't activate while still stowed?

KSP checks for parts within a cargobay or fairing when those parts are activated, the only way around this would be a plugin, try asking in general addon affairs.

It happens when something important is in a cargo bay. One example was my rover that had its probe core inside a cargo bay, so it wouldn't let me activate the engine (which was outside of the bay) if the cargo bay was closed.

Try opening your cargo bays.

The stowed thing is ridiculous. You detach a stage from a fairing Base without popping the fairing, and you get like a kilometer away, and your engine says "can't deploy while stowed" because technically the fairing is intact.

And don't get me started on plane. I had a pair of Intakes well clear of the cargo bay. After opening it once and closing it again, all my engines failed. Had to land the bloody thing with the bay open. And when I had the bright idea to get a missile in a bay, I would launch it, and the rocket would turn off when I assumed control of the plane and closed the bays.

Truly, someone has to patch this. It causes much more problems than it provides realism.

I don't think so; this is probably a bug or a feature that is most undesirable. It even happens when the engine is totally unobstructed and at the moment is crippling everything I'm trying to do as well. Although if it's fixable with a mod I want to check that out.

If I design a rocket that fires an engine inside a fairing, why not? The worst that can happen is that it all explodes.

I had this happend to me without even having cargo bay. I had craft designed like that :

l9dSj7V.png

Red squares are small fuel tanks, blue one is LV-N engine and the green one is large fuel tank. The large fuel tank is top of main rocket that carried rest of the craft into orbit. The lv-n engine was covered with fairing that is placed when decoupler is attached t engine.

When I decoupled, this fairing splat in half and started to shake those 2 bottom most small fuel tanks. After it got away engine was stowed.

Is there something I can do about it or is my craft useless now ?

Is this caused by those fairing pieces made engine disconnected from the rest of the craft ?
