I miss NASA's "worm Logo"

It appears close enough to be on the original (no crapipedia), so it likely is initials. Artists are well known for hiding their initials in some way on their artwork, sometimes even in unique and different ways.

Huh. That's some excellent detail on that patch, then.

Also, it pleases me in a way that, no matter how hard Goldin tried, he couldn't get rid of some of the worm logos - that is to say, the ones out in space. It still exists up on Hubble, for instance. Though, even as early as 1997, it wasn't in the best of shape:

I dunno... I think all the space ships should have Pan Am logos like 2001 did! :-)

Of course, they're going to end up having an "X" with a swoop in it... (SpaceX)

It's interesting to see how the meatball, and the Roscosmos & Boeing logos are all kind of similar.

Wow, roscosmos really is almost suspiciously close to nasa. Then again, what else would you put in a space agency logo? I guess pointy things and circles are almost inevitable really.

The meatball is old. So are a lot of countries' flags. That doesn't mean we need to go replacing them with something else.

"Progress" for the sake of progress is not progress. It's silliness. Changing the logo didn't actually accomplish anything, except require a lot of changes in signs, stationery, vehicle paint jobs, etc. Why bother changing it? Did someone call a meeting and say "You know, this logo is old. It's the same one we went to the moon with. We need to move away from that image and reinvent ourselves! We don't want anyone thinking we can't keep up with the times."

-snip-

Fair enough, I wasn't suggesting that they change it simply for the sake of changing it. Personally I think they should just stay with the meatball because it is the one they have now and it works, I was just saying that to me it is starting to look dated.

Edit:

Can someone post flag sized images for all the different logos in this thread. I will give you one internet cookie if you do.
