Surface scan tracking

Recommended Posts

Not that I've found, other than landing something there with the surface scanning module and seeing whether the "scan" button is present. I mainly solve this by keeping a little note where I jot down the places I've scanned.

Sure would be nice if the orbital information display would give some sort of visual indication of scanned-versus-not.

Give Scansat a try.

Yeah, that's a great mod... but it doesn't integrate with the map view, has its own 2D map instead.

I really wish it had an overlay in map view like Kethane used to have... that was just gorgeous, performed great, was really easy and intuitive to use. I miss that UI.

Well you can grab latitude and longitude from Scansat and use Waypoint Manager to create a marker visible in flight and in the map.

Or Kerbal Engineer tells you what biome you're over.

[X] Science lets you sort and search your list of which experiment you've done in which biomes.

Scansat doesn't tell you directly. However, if you render the map with resources on, the difference is quite obvious: as long as you haven't used the surface scanner, the entire biome is rendered in one hue (it's average density). After the surface thing, you see varying densities within the biome.

I guess the Lollipop Scanner can be used in a similar fashion. Fly low enough to use it and if the terrain below you is all the same shade of pink, you haven't done a surface scan yet. (Update) Even better: mouse over the small scanner gui: if the given density is doesn't change at all, you still have to do a surface scan.
