Weird graphical problem.

Recommended Posts

On the startup menu everything is covered in square holes and glitch looking things. I think I have found the problem, I have the debug window open and I can see that it is saying "edge highlighting requires AA to be on" or something like that. I have turned edge highlighting off because other people having problems like mine have found that to be a solution.

I need help getting this stupid edge highlighting to be off for good. I have tried everything I can to turn it off, but it wont go away.

my specs:

GTX 760

16 gb RAM

i5-4430s

64x ubuntu 14.04.1

"Edge highlighting requires AA to be on" appears in the log when when Edge Highlighting is not enabled. I've noticed that too in my logs. I doubt its related to your graphical issues as I have those log entries but not the graphical glitches. In addition, you'll need to post your logs for someone to realy be able to help you.

As to what the real problem is I don't know, unfortunately.

Not launching through steam. Am I really the only one who has ever had this problem? Its almost been a week, no one knows anything about what is happening to me?

The reason I asked was that I had a similar problem. It went away when I played without using steam.

For some reason, if I had steam and chatterer at the same time, my graphics got messed up and had frequent crashes to the point where the game crashed when I tried to load a save.

Took chatterer out and I could load games but my graphics were still a bit naff. Played without steam and I can use chatterer and now it's pretty stable.

I recently had some graphics issues also. I'm on windows. so I downloaded the geforce experience tool from nvidia. It updated the video drivers and optimized settings for KSP for me. Graphics issues went away. I don't think you can get geforce experience for Linux, but, from the pictures you posted, it looks to me like either a problem with the video card drivers or hardware failure.

If this was my machine, I would try this first : http://smallbusiness.chron.com/test-graphics-card-ubuntu-49215.html. If GPU passes the tests, then I would create a new, separate KSP stock only install, reduce graphics settings to minimums, and verify that issue still exists. Then re-install the latest video drivers for your GPU. If possible, completely uninstall existing drivers. Then install the latest drivers from the manufacturers website. I know very little about ubuntu, but I would think troubleshooting a video card would be a similar process no matter what the OS.
