What will KSP's future be? (Warning: Flames Ahead)

This has pretty much turned into a battle between those who think that devs should do what they want to do, and those who think devs should do what the players want them to do.

My opinion on all this is that people shouldn't try to force a dev to do what they want. But if you're going to make a stink about something, at least have experience in game development or programming, so you can understand how difficult all these decisions are, and how much work goes into one seemingly small thing.

This is not trying to say that no one here has the experience to know what they're going through, but odds are, most people don't.

TL;DR: Don't be a .... to developers because they don't do EXACTLY what you want, they spend incredible amounts on time on the seemingly minuscule features. Having experience with programming or game development makes it slightly better, but barely.

This thread was started (by me) just as an experiment to see what you guys would say and guess the most likely path the game will take. And now it's in flames.

I doubt multiplayer will be in 1.1, so I'm not voting for "1.1 Stock multiplayer, YEAH!"

THE KRAKEN IS IMMORTAL, ETERNAL, AND CAN NEVER BE DESTROYED!!!(at least not completely anyway) So I'm not voting for "1.0.4 Destruction of the Krakens!"

The PS4 version won't be released before the Unity 5 patch is finished, which seems to be pretty much synonymous with 1.1 so I'm not voting for "The PS4 version will be released."

My opinion: the 1.0.3 bugfix will fix all the bugs they intend to fix (which is why it's taking so long) and that there will only be a 1.0.4 if 1.0.3 needs an urgent hotfix, which it won't(?) because they're taking their time this time. Then 1.1 with Unity 5 plus a couple of small but significant new parts/features (what happened to the barn?) and maybe some new planets (as a secret feature?) if we're lucky. A PS4 release shortly afterwards, and only after then will multiplayer become a thing in stock thing in KSP, and only then will I stop messing with the text formatting.

Judging by what the developers have said (and assuming they don't need a hotfix after 1.0.3!) their first priority is the Unity 5 upgrade, and I think this is what we will see next - whatever number they give it.

Reasons:

The PS4 port requires some of rewriting on top of the conversion to Unity 5, so it will take longer than the port to Unity 5.

Multiplayer is a big job! This might be the one they work on while we are all playing with the unity 5 version.

Personally, I feel multiplayer is a very low priority... I'd prefer a good old Kraken hunt, another look at the contracts system, and addition to stock of some of the great mods, in particular KAS.

Multiplayer I feel will take a while still (even with the advent of Unet speeding things up significantly) at the same time, I doubt there will be a 1.0.4 ... (with 1.0.3 appearing to be last patch before 1.1)

PS4 is comfirmed coming 2016, so 1.1 (with unity 5.1 upgrade) is definetly coming first

If memory leak is not fixed in 1.03 we will get an 1.04 to fix it.

Unity 5 is next, 64 bit is pretty much required for major new features including multi-player, better graphic, more planets.

I hope unity 5 with proper 64bit support. I really really really don't care about stock-multiplayer, in my opinion this is the last important feature what KSP needs.
