How do I recover launch clamps?

Just notice that while sometimes launch clamps remain on the pad, quite often they silently disappear. I wonder why.

I'm not overly concerned about lauch clamps, but I'd like to recover some boosters. If they burn out early enough, that ought to be easy... and indeed I see them land, I can still see them from map view while I'm about to leave the atmosphere, then suddenly they're gone. I don't think I've ever seen them vanish... I think it happens while switching to and from the map.

Those boosters tend to drop on the launchpad, or at least the hexagon that surrounds it. I wonder if the mechanism that spirits them away is the one that's responsible for cleaning up the clamps.

Doesn't work for me. I always have to recover my clamps. Luckily it's easy to do so with the KSC view craft pins.

Then again I don't use the typical setup. I'm running 64 bit linux build 1.0.2 on Ubuntu 12.04. Full stock though, or sometimes with Claw's stock bug fixes but never other mods.

I meant "is sometimes automatically recovered", it seems to be triggered by something which doesn't always happen. I'm pretty sure launch clamps are automatically recovered without prompt when you launch a new ship though.

Or possibly they removed auto-recovery? It certainly used to be a thing anyway.

Launch clamps are automatically recovered only if there's a scene change to the space center and back.

I'm pretty certain that what I'm experiencing is not auto-recovery. Or at any rate, my bank account doesn't change when the parts disappear.

I've had Stage Recovery installed months ago. never looked back.

I totally recommend it, even if it can be a bit too lenient on you sometimes.
