Saygus V Squared-Dual SD Card And More

So several months back I made a post about dual SD card phones. Well now there's a company producing a very high end phone. It's got plenty of features and a great camera and I recommend you guys check it out here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/saygus-v-squared#/story

What do you guys think about this? It doesn't cost much more than a typical flagship smartphone but has a better camera and more storage along with a high capacity battery for it's size. My phone is in the 5.5 inch range and it doesn't even have a 3.1Ah battery. This along with the promise of 500gb+ cards could mean a lot of change for phones. Any thoughts on this or is it useless to you?

One thing for sure: data transfer rate of an SD card will never match an internal storage, and google avoids installing apps to sd card for that reason. Battery use are affected by app usage as well, so a huge battery for heavy application is standard.

I don't trust indiegogo products. They can claim whatever magical specs they want, until the phone is actually available and reviewed by independent reviewers, nobody knows what the actual performance will be.

Also, I don't see the point in having 500GB of on-board storage. That's a lot of data to lose if you break it or it gets lost or stolen. Although there might be some niche uses for it, most of the time you'll be better served with a separate USB drive.

As for the 21MP camera, image quality is about optics and sensor size, not megapixels. You will never get great image quality from a tiny sensor and a pinhole lens because you can't beat the laws of physics.

Why would you need 500 GB of storage on a phone? Honestly, why?

For hoarding stuff you'll never look at again? If you run out of storage, just delete old stuff you don't need any more. The size of files today does not justify that storage size on a mobile phone. In 10 - 20 years, maybe, but not yet.

Looking at the Ingiegogo video they have, they mention a 21 Mpx camera as if the number of pixels a camera has is in any way a measure of the picture quality. There are much more important factors.

My first digital camera was a 1,3 Mpx Fuji that made better pictures 15 years ago than a 13 Mpx camera on my new phone.

The capacity of the battery also says nothing. My modern smartphone has a 2000 mAh battery and I need to plug it in every night. 15 years ago a 500 mAh battery lasted a week. Capacity is not what determines the longevity of the battery. Power consumption is a big player.

Kerman Hardon sound... I assume that's supposed to appeal to "audiophiles"... Yeah, if you expect a good sound to come out of a mobile phone speakers, you'll be disappointed untill you plug it in a proper amp and speaker set.

I wish the guys all the best and good luck, but realistically they offer nothing exceptional.

Edit:

Slow typing breeds ninjas.

I've heard that Android M could support SD cards being used as regular storage and the V2 can boot straight from the SD card. Currently phones with similar specs can get by with 2Ah batteries but more power is nice. I see where you're coming from with the sensor and aperture size though and no specifics have been announced presumably because they haven't even ordered parts yet. It does seem kind of shady as the same company failed to launch a phone a few years back. The waterproofing is nice but the 801 seems outdated now even though it was fairly new when the phone was first shown off in January. They have working models that do support the dual mSD and fingerprint along with other promised features but nothing much past that. I'm more concerned about what happens after the indiegogo ends. Will they open an online store for the dongle to stream to and extra batteries and such?

I'm a bit questioning over the 21 MP part, although higher res existed back then (heard nokia's zeiss breaked 40 MP), even so we are not sure yet whose lenses will be there.

Battery: my phone (xperia m2 aqua) have 2300 mAh yet it can last for 2 days with intermittent usage (like, uh, reading this forum, or browsing. also chatting). It can last through the night idling only consuming 1% battery state. Compare with Galaxy S5 - similar (internal) specs, 2800 mAh battery lasts 3 days on idle. Take it if it's gonna be longer.

I'm also concerned over the screen - if it's not IPS LCD (bet they won't use AMOLED) don't buy it, display matters first because it affects what you'll see out of the camera.
