Somehow it feels much better than before.

I went to space and came down after one orbit. I overshoot a bit and then burned up while going ~1200 m/s in deep atmosphere.

How are you getting re-entry flames at 49 km? I don't see flames until I get down to 35 km. Also, overheating should never be an issue at 11 km, even if you are going 1,300 m/s.

I'm guessing you installed a mod that changes the heat system, in which case that mod did a great job at balancing the heat values.

In 1.0.3 shock heating effects are noticeable at much higher altitudes than before.

The install is completely stock. I only activated the thermal readout in the debug menu.

In 1.0.2 I could get such just by going in fast enough at 55 km up. If remember right it was 37XY m/s that got the heating effect started at that hight. Could have been moar or lower downish.

It should be noted that the changelogs seem to indicate its balanced for Eve direct entry from Kerbin, entry speed of something ridiculous. What did it say it was balanced for, 6.5km/s?

My fighter jet that was crippled by 1.0 can now go mach4 about half way around the world without range extension tanks or slowing down. Before i had to crawl along at mach1 and carry a ton of fuel with me to even get half way around the world. I may now be able to go completely around with just my original "Extended range" version with two cans instead of 6.
