How to update

I'm running on Windows, no Steam. So far when updates hit I do a fresh install then transfer my saves folder. Is this the best way to do it or is there a better way?

What I did was delete the squad folder from GameData and did a merge and replace of everything else. Everything seems to be working fine.

yeah, that's what I do. I also take my settings.cfg file over too unless it's a major update.

When KSP version <x> is released, I install it to D:\KSP\KSP_<x>

I add D:\KSP\KSP_<x-2> to my archive zip file and delete it.

In short, I've always got the current release and the previous release installed, and copies of everything else zipped up.

I don't copy my saves over, though. Update time is time to start a new save.

I let Steam auto-update, then copy that install to a new folder named for the version. Point CKAN at it, and then play the previous version until the important mods update. Eventually transfer save.

Run patcher.exe........just kidding.

If you download the installer and install into the same location as your 1.0.2 version it should update the files and maintain your existing saves. probably wise to copy your save folder just in case though.
