Crash when reverting flight

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I recently started having problems with crashes. I've found similar problem descriptions when searching the forums, however the suggested

causes didn't really seem to fit my symptoms, most were related to 32bit KSP running out of memory.

I would greatly appreciate any help, as the game is turning more unplayable the further I progress. I attached the log files suggested by the "get help" thread,

if you need any further information please let me know.

OS: Xubuntu 15.04

KSP: 1.0.2 Linux 64-bit

RAM: 8GB

GPU: Radeon 5770 with latest catalyst driver

Description:

When reverting a flight back to the VAB or Launch, the game crashes. I can briefly (~1sec) see the correct scene loaded.

The issue seems to correlate with the number of parts in the ship, I have never seen it with small (<50parts vessels).

However, I've also had problem-free launches with ships with well over 100 parts.

I have attached a craft (~250parts) that crashes the game everytime I reproduce the steps above.

The game hovers around 3.5GB of memory usage (so there is plenty available) with the ship loaded in the VAB or flying.

I've had similar problems using the windows version, I was hoping that switching to 64bit (and therefore linux) would help.

Note: I ran the game as root, otherwise (part of) the log file would say that it could not attach the debugger...

List of installed mods: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=fp7L8Dp6

player.log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l95gcwb6vx9vx8p/Player.log.zip?dl=0

craft file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jcc82dx6g7ea4rf/K%C3%A4fa%20I.craft?dl=0

Thank you in advance for your help and best regards!

Hello, same problem.

OS: Windows 7 x64

KSP: 1.0.4

RAM: 8GB

GPU: GeForce GTX 760

I only use Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.0.17 (released for KSP 1.0.4 compatibility) as a mod

Maybe a specific vanilla part creating a crash, or Kerbal En?

Thanks

Ok, for now the game crashes for me with one specific ship ONLY when I attach a rover subassembly inside a Service Bay (2.5m), as Scott Manley does in his career mode video :

BUT, rather than attaching it with a decoupler as he does (works for me too, without a crash ; EDIT: Crashed today), I'd attach it with two Jr. docking ports. Then my game crashes as I revert.

If I place the rover anywhere else on the ship, it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Collision/physics problem then? The plot thickens.

I am getting the exact same problem - a vessel with 2.5m service bay and a rover attached inside. I have made damn sure the rover fits inside properly. I am trying to test the launcher but when I revert it crashes every time. Any other design works fine.

OS: Windows 8.1 x64

KSP: 1.0.4

RAM: 8GB

GPU: GeForce GTX 780

Only mod I use is Kerbal Engineer and it has done it with both 1.0.16.6 and 1.0.17.0. I also cleaned out the mods and it still crashes with the cargo bay/rover added.

Hi ferdkuh, your log says the built-in Unity version of Mono crashes, and that you're using KSP.x86_64, do you get this crash with KSP.x86 ?

Hi,

KSP.x86 crashes immediately after starting the exectuable, I've uploaded the player.log here. Oddly, i also had to run it as root, otherwise it would crash with "Aborted (core dumped)" (event though I could not find it in any of the usual places).

I never tried running the 32bit version before, since the whole point of switching to linux was being able to use 64bit :)

Is there anything else that would be helpful for you?

Thanks for the effort in any case!

Best regards

I'm having the same issues sent in numerous crash files to support today. I've even removed Kerbal Engineering and it still occurs. So essentially unmodded and the issue repeats itself.

Having this exact same issue. If you follow Scott Manley's guide (

) here with the rover inside the 2.5m bay eventually this rocket will crash KSP on reverting from launch or to assembly. I tried building it one piece at a time, launch it, then check for a crash, and it doesn't appear to follow any pattern on when it crashes, just its a 100% chance eventually. Once it starts crashing it will crash every time afterwards if you revert. Annoying.
