1.0.4 CTD Training Scenarios

Recommended Posts

KSP version: Kerbal Space Program - 1.0.4.0 (LinuxPlayer) Steam (x86 binary, not x86_64)

Detailed Explanation

Loading the following Training Scenarios causes a CTD (Crash To Desktop). No Error is captured by the game.

- Flight Basics

- Docking

- Orbiting 101

- To The Mun, Part 1

- To The Mun, Part 2

- Asteroid Redirect Mission, Part 1

- Asteroid Redirect Mission, Part 2

Additionally, I did Start Game > Start New > Science. That loaded fine. I was able to go into the VAB and place a Mk1 Command Pod and the only solid fuel booster. But clicking the Mk16 Parachute also causes CTD.

Also, the game was playable with 1.0.2 (with only the occasional crash); but I no longer have that version to double check.

Output Files: (Specifically for trying to load Docking Training)

Yes, there appears to be an issue with KSP 1.0.4 on Mint that causes KSP to crash when it catches certain exceptions that would normally be handled (and are handled cleanly on other OSes). E.g. the selecting a parachute causes rapid log spam of exception messages on other OSes but seems to kill KSP when running on Mint. The latest working theory is a library mismatch. See that post and maybe provide Squelch with the same data as [ELF] so that comparisons can be made...

  • 2 weeks later...

I am running ksp 1.0.4 linux 64 bit edition with almost 100 mods and no real problems. I just switched from windows 7 ultimate to Zorn a linux os that looks like windows but runs ksp 64 bit edition with no problems. it is free and easy to set up for dual boot. try it. :D
