Downgrading KSP...

So im on ksp version 1.0.4 and was wondering if i can downgrade to 1.0.2. I have the steam version of ksp. If I cant downgrade is there a way to disable auto updates?

Yes, there is, go to the games properties and disable it there. You cannot downgrade with any version, unless Squad still has 0.90 on the website. I would copy and compress the games files from now on, however.

Yes you can disable auto update and better yet, keep multiple copies of KSP, one folder for each version. Leave the default game folder stock and use it as a backup

For downgrading, I'm afraid Steam only allows you to revert to 0.90!

I don't see why you'd want to downgrade. There's only a couple of mods that aren't working for 1.03/4 and the changes are nothing but good.

This is why I make a copy of the vanilla versions(starting with .90) and all the mods I wish to use for that version in a back up file.

Are 1.0.3 mods compatible with 1.0.4?

Yes. There's only a couple of mods that don't work for either version that I've been able to find. 1.03/4 didn't break much.

It might be worth noting that mods that were released as compatible with 1.0.3 might report themselves as incompatible with 1.0.4, because their internal compatibility checker looks at the version number and sees a difference. (Precise Node does this.)

In fact, only very minor changes were made in 1.0.4, and you'd have to be very unlucky indeed to have that break mod compatibility. (Precise Node runs with no worries at all on 1.0.4, despite reporting itself as incompatible.)

Whoops I might be mistaken - anyway I simply launch the KSP.exe directly and I play from a copy of the Steam installation, so no concerns about sudden updates breaking anything. I manually backup each version as well.

Steam got rid of that feature. As they want you to always keep your game up to date since it saves them space on their end. Which could be used for new games to bring in moar money.
