The fact that you all are inconvenienced by this is literally the entire point of a strike. It forces the management (in this case, the Reddit administration) to act.

Not only that, but the strike was voted on and supported by the majority of users of the subreddit.

The Reddit admins will have been forced to increase communication with the moderators of large subreddits (which was the goal of the strike) and that will improve everything for everybody. If you read the front page of Reddit, you'll see that the admins are already responding and are struggling to bring everything back together. This strike has had an effect.

In short, stop complaining. You've been slightly inconvenienced so that the mods of the subreddit can give you better service from this point on.

People should know that Victoria being laid off is not the only cause of this.

A big problem is that the (volunteer) moderators helping her out weren't notified, and no staff replaced her role, so people who already had interviews scheduled (celebrities, scientists etc.) were left in the dark and had no-one to contact.

If everyone were notified a day ahead and a proper replacement was present, it would possibly still be a ****show, but not on this magnitude.

... dang, KSP.

What's with all the Reddit hate on this forum? I get that we don't use it, but wanting the entire website to burn to the ground (including /r/kerbalspaceprogram)? People never seem to get that subreddits are a huge part of the website. Once you really look at it, there is no "Reddit Hivemind", because each community is different. KSP has a great and welcoming group over there as well, so why are we all attacking them like this?

Personally, I don't know what to think about the whole "protest". Big subreddits shutting down makes sense, because that clears the front page and kind of sends a message to the admins. KSP shutting down will probably only affect 1% of users anyways... so let's not do that. I don't completely understand what the protests are about, but it's clear that it wasn't about the firing of one admin. That was the catalyst - people have been angry for a long time over growing corruption and lack of communication.

Corruption and lack of communication? Sounds like Reddit is turning into ROBLOX. Oh god no

I don't get the point of reddit, to be honest. Surely you can discuss things in local forums... And if you just want to post memes and responses to them, there's 9gag, or 4chan....
