I also remember having 50 tabs open of the respective wiki for that mod to figure out what I was even doing.

Well, got some good and bad news.

The good news is, we starter recording on a public server, and had issues with chat and banned items, and we are now switching to a private server between us two, so that will all be removed.

The bad news is, our first episode is now postponed, as the one we recorded was on the public server, we have no use of it. We will record another episode 1 on our new private server, and hopefully it will be more interesting.

Aww, that sucks. I'm guessing the chat problem was spam or something similar? I guess it's better doing it on a private server though, because it means no one will randomly raid your base to smithereens, and also less lag because of fewer loaded chunks with players in them.

Yep. We tried turning chat off to hide it but then we could not enter commands.

Now we've just got to get the server working. :|

And also all the good blocks aren't banned. They banned the project table. THE PROJECT TABLE! I cannot live without that thing.

Also chunk loaders were banned, which means no large lava source for magmatic engines and such. Lots of things banned that we need to have a successful operation.

No, the game is not minecraft. The base game is minecraft. If we said "we're recording minecraft" they would expect vanilla minecraft. We are recording tekkit, a large modpack for minecraft that makes it a totally different game.

You don't have to pick apart what I say. This was just an announcement that we were recording, it's not like I spent an hour making sure every detail was right. It was just a heads up.

Yes, I am serious. You are 'recording' (which I assume means episodal Youtube coverage) Minecraft, and specifically Minecraft with a mod that changes quite a few things. Saying the game is Tekkit is rather confusing and pretty inaccurate to boot. There is no game called Tekkit, there is a mod(pack) called Tekkit. Most people know Minecraft is modded fairly heavily, so when you announce Minecraft to be the subject of your videos, people expect either vanilla gameplay or one of the many available mods. Presenting it as a separate game means people will get utterly confused, unless they are already well introduced into the mod.

Please do not take this for nitpicking. These seem to be fairly serious lapses in communication. It is not really what you want if you endeavour to make quality videos. Clear communication should be your core business.

This was just an announcement that we were recording, it's not like I spent an hour making sure every detail was right. It was just a heads up.

Okay, that is fair As friendly advice I would suggest to take care of any and all communications, even if because it is just good practice before tackling the real thing.

If you read the opening post to this thread, you will see a spoiler on the bottom that clearly and concisely explains what tekkit is. I put that there right after the post you quoted.

In my eyes, that is not a lack of communication at all. The one post you quoted was only one post, and I later corrected myself.

EDIT: and I now have edited that post, so now there should be no confusion.

I understand that you are going to do it on a private server, but will you ever let fellow forum-goers join you? I mean as in playing on the same server, not in the recording I imagine. You could prevent Spammers and stuff by only PM'ing the IP, and I imagine most good forum members would understand if you told them not to mess with you. Also, that way it would be more of an actual "Race Into Space"

There's a few problems with this.

Firstly, it won't a 100% uptime server. It will be turned on prior to recording and shut down afterwords.

Secondly, while the "race" sounds cool, it wouldn't be fair, cause some people would have more time to play then others, meaning they would win.

If starwhip wants to put the server up 100%, maybe we could invite a few people and send you far away to play personally. And we may (emphasis on maybe) let someone be in the recording just as a helper. But it's a really big maybe. We'll have to discuss it.

Don't get me wrong it sounds cool. It just wouldn't work right.

Yeah, I realised that it would be problematic a few hours after I posted that, but I wasn't near my computer at the time to edit it. Anyway, still looking forward to the videos, I just have a thing for watching heavily-modded Minecraft Series.

How about a "celebrity" guest? I would love to be on this thing, even though I'm not exceedingly good at Minecraft. At the very least, I could provide some comic relief and maybe attract a slightly brighter spotlight to this series

Of course, my old computer died recently (RIP Logan: you will not be forgotten) and so I would have to come on a little after the beginning of the series, but it would still be a fun time for all.

(Oh, and by the way: I wanted to reply to the PM you sent, Endersmens, but your inbox is full. Can you clear out a thing or two? That would be nice.)
