I used to get to orbit by burning straight up until Apo was at 60k and then burn to widen into an orbit (speaking of which, I used to think that LKO was 60k)

1. To orbit, go up.

2. Spaceplanes are easy.

3. Docking is an art reserved for the most experienced KSPers.

4. Fuel tanks can't be stacked.

I would also do science experiments, keep the data, reset the experiment, and do it again in a different situation, thinking my science from the other experiments was stored. This went on until 1.0.
