Categories in VAB and the Tech Tree are GONE...

Recommended Posts

I was messing around with the E.V.E mods and failed miserably at installing them. I decided to perform a fresh install,

after I finished I realised that the categories in my VAB and the aircraft one (don't remember it's name) had just gone

and left me with an empty bar (image). I also noticed that my tech tree had gone too.

I have done 3 fresh installs, computer resets and I also tried validating the cache through steam which I had no clue how to do.

If anyone can help me with this I would be very grateful! I just want to land on the moon for my Birthday!

Thanks,

Turtle.

The KSP.log will help, there's some stuff that isn't in there though so the player.log is better.

Mac OSX: Open Console, on the left side of the window there is a menu that says 'files'. Scroll down the list and find the Unity drop down, under Unity there will be Player.log Aka Files>~/Library/Logs>Unity>Player.log

That's all I know about finding the OSX log, hopefully it'll show an error message that'll give ideas on what's going on.

Thank you, there's no error during loading though, it looks like the last time you ran KSP you went from the main menu to settings and back but not into the game itself, there's no entry for changing to the KSC scene or the VAB.

But there's a few things you can try, this is from the self help sticky.

Mac OSX Specific Issues

Permissions

Most OSX issues are permissions related, solve these by enabling read/write permissions on the KSP_osx folder. To do this, open a Terminal, change the directory to where the KSP_osx is and type: "sudo chmod -R 777 KSP_osx" (without the quotes). For more information on OSX permissions and how to do this graphically, please see here.

Saved state issues

OSX saves the state of programs it runs. Sometimes these files are corrupted and need to be deleted for a program to run properly again. Click this link to learn how to find the saved states; the one you need to delete is the unity.Squad.Kerbal Space Program.savedState folder.

Please give those a go, then try looking in the VAB again, let me know what happens and upload the new player.log from that attempt.
