Help Installing Astronomer's Visual Pack with CKAN

I have been trying to install Astronomer's Visual Pack with CKAN, but every time I try to load the game, the game crashes before getting to the main screen, but after the loading screen. Does anyone know how to get this install working properly with KSP 1.0.4?

Astronomer's is a very memory-intensive mod, and it sounds like you're hitting the memory limit. Did you install one of the Active Texture Management mods as well?

I have, but it doesn't help anything. I have also tried installing only Astronomer's by itself and it doesn't work. However, I typically play the game with 80-something mods, with it being somewhat stable.

stibbons is correct, you are running out of RAM. That symptom of crashing while loading is always running out of RAM.

Astronomer's pack hasn't been updated in quite a while and as a result it is temperamental. Installing it with CKAN is not a good idea unless you are running 0.25.

FWIW, AVP (via CKAN) runs just fine at max-res on GNU/Linux x86_64... and consumes a gig or so of RAM by itself, even with ATM. Getting it to run on 32bit will be hairy.

The only way to know for sure is to look in the logs, where memory crashes are blindingly obvious.
