S-S-O Discovery One (Sarnus System Orbiter)

-Originally planned to be a Jool/Laythe orbiter, this mission has been bumped up to explore the Sarnus system.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share my mission to Sarnus and it's moons. This mission was based pretty heavily on the Cassini spacecraft / orbiter - as with other sandbox missions I do, I plan to come up with a "research paper" outlining Sarnus and it's composition and effect on the small moon system.

But first, there needed to be a spacecraft there to take pictures and do science!

The S-S-O Discovery One is the very first launch and spacecraft in this new program - the Discovery program. S-S-O means "Sarnus System Orbiter" and "One" means the first craft launched (no failures.)

Next mission will be some sort of probe to Tekto - it may be a rover, it may be a lander. That is undecided so far... Maybe SSODO can do a flyby and check it out for further possibilities.

Thanks!

As for mods, I think this is right:

RemoteTech for the antenna dish

HullCam VDS for the cameras

DMagic Orbital Science for most of the science parts

And AIES Aerospace for the RCS thrusters.

Little bump for new Imgur album, graphics, and description!

After getting ready to launch, I realized the newly-installed Outer Planets Mod's Sarnus had a transfer window only 20 days away. So I switched gears and built a rocket to take the spacecraft out to the Sarnus system instead!

EDIT:

A little maneuvering today: flyby #28 ended up with Slate and Tekto encounters, all the while doing a Sarnus flyby of 384,500m. That's only 84 kilometers above the atmosphere! Some great science was collected that will be studied for some time.

So, since I'm a nerd, and we're all nerds here, I'll post this here.

One of my favorite things to do on this game is to create little "thesis papers" on theorizing how the different planets in-game are made up, their composition, ect.
