What do you think SQUADs next game will be?

I'd like it to be KSP 2, on a much better game engine for the job than Unity.

I'd be OK with it being anything.

I expect it will be nothing, though, and Squad will keep tinkering with KSP but never truly fixing many of its problems.

Kerbal Space Program is our main focus and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future, there's no telling what may come afterwards, though.

This means absolutely nothing, neither in the legal nor speculative sense.

What's the foreseeable future? Have we gone past it? Even so, can we tell what may come afterwards? Not until it is announced.

I'm sure Squad is burned out with KSP at this point. The only reason they are not showing their tiredness is most likely because they have projects they are working on the backburner but are not willing to share.

If Squad applied their current "design" skills to another game without first having some genre-defining killer idea, the game would bomb. KSP counts among the most poorly designed games I've ever played, in terms of UI, progression systems, and general gameplay, with career mode being the pinnacle of "What the hell was Squad thinking?". Seriously, KSP is such a jumble of random concepts that in any other game it would be lambasted as terrible. Squad's next game, if there is one, will be a failure if they don't have a killer idea.

If you ask me, the engine isn't really that much of an issue, contrary to popular belief. A larger problem is that a lot of the systems were made a long time ago when the team was less experienced, but by now are so deeply-ingrained in the rest of the game's systems that refactoring them is next to impossible. I really hope the UI upgrade for the game at least makes it usable. UI is one of the biggest frustrations I have with it at the moment.

C7 could you please design an engine for the game whenever it's possible while continuing supporting unity ; ) more like that in fact ; )

I'm not holding my breath. From what I've read on the Unity 5 updates, they seem to be spending quite a bit of time making sure the interface works the way it always has.
