Contracts and composite stations

I'm wondering How are the rules about the "new station" rule for station missions combining with statins made from multiple substations, some of which were launched before the contract acceptance and some not.

I was assuming that the heavier subcomponent would be the one "winning" ... Is that correct ?

I'm fairly sure that craft status is winning. As you "rename vessel" you can change the icon, and the craft with the icon of "space station" trumps the one with icon of "spacecraft" or "probe".

I suspect for equally important docking order may have a say, "docked to" being higher than "doing the docking".
