WW2 BAD-T - World War 2 BDArmory AI Dogfight Tournament [FINISHED]

Recommended Posts

Right after I set up the battleground for the first biplane battles I noticed some illegal parts, the airplane will have to be resubmitted (the owner has been warned about it).

Because of this there will be no battle today, my bad.

But tomorrow there will be!

@Kunighit: you can resubmit until your airplane goes to battle.

@tetryds

Ok I'll take you up on that resubmit offer. http://kerbalx.com/Kunighit/Sanka-II-V2

With the way the development of that things going, soon we will have to add a rule of "Must have some sort of applicable fuselage of some kind" :wink:

Here's a good chunk of effort I'd like to submit: http://i.imgur.com/7leNHIX.png

And the download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/t36z9lr5z70p9oo/Delilah%20Mk_2a.craft?dl=1

I think everything's up to snuff.

All looks fine in the pic, is the box behind the cockpit the weapons manager?

Also i'm thinking of starting a Schneider Trophy Race, anyone interested?

Okay, it's awesome to see so many submissions.

Just to explain how I am going to handle this:

First I will scan my inbox, from newest to oldest, and note down your submission.

Then I will scan this thread, if you are already assigned your entry is discarded.

This scan will happen before the battles start, if you are already in battle the new entry is discarded.

This is some extra work for your convenience, so please always submit the same craft under the same name and do not submit new ones before you are eliminated.

I let you change it on the fly, you make it easy for me and it's all good.

@TUKE: how dare you?

The cops are going to revoke your license if you do that.

Heh, of course you can go supersonic, but bear in mind that it will be harder as I reported that the effects were not like they should be and ferram confirmed.

So, next FAR update will hit harder on that area.

My plane works best subsonic, i just thought i would put the question out there.

To that effect i limited it to subsonic.

It was funny though when i was testing the Oriental Kabluey, i had an old version of my entry sitting off the runway for it to fight with. And as it started rolling i thought, i might get Bill out of the cockpit, when he fell his helmet got caught between the gun and fuselage and the plane going forward held him against the wing, becasue of him being caught it didn't takeoff properly, stalled, and crashed. Poor Bill :(

Haven't got a chance to fly it yet, but I've built my 3rd biplane fighter attempt such that it has a drag area comparable to a monoplane, with 0.4 m^2. Should be able to maintain level flight speeds of over 150 m/s at sea level, whilst retaining its ability to point the noise anywhere it damned well pleases.

@TUKE: Your jet looks fine but you are using the wrong engines :P

Yoi need AJE (incompatible with KAX) and procedural parts to make a jet, as the one single allowed jet engine type has a non-stock diameter.

Ok that's odd, because i thought i used the one from AJE.

A made another copy of the game, removed KAX and added AJE.

Not exactly a standard design of jet though.

There is only one model of AJE engines allowed, check the rules again :P

Oh dear god thats tiny. I assumed that there was a typo and used the J58 P-4. I'll admit i didn't look at the thing very hard, making a jet was a spur of the moment idea.

Yeah, it is, but it works very well.

When you mentioned going supersonic I got impressed but wanted to take a look at it first just to make sure, haha.

Also remember jets have weight and lenght restrictions, would be too easy to make a minuscle superdrone otherwise.

That sounds terrifying....

I tried that engine out with a 4 ton plane (according to what it says in the SPH, idk how my planes put on 2 more tons when I launch them) and it performs worse than if it had 2 aerosports on it....

What gives? I thought the jet class would have more power. I was kinda designing my Sanka to have its final variant be a tran sonic, jet dog fighter. But it looks like that ain't happening. :/

The aerosport does actually have more power.

@Kunighit: it's a whole different beast.

Jets underperform at slow speeds, but perform much better at high speeds, you need to tweak and balance them differently and all that.

Think about it as another tournament, performance is relative, no other airplane beats a biplane at super slow speeds, and helicopters? TWR > 1 all the way.

Also, I may remind you the reasons why they call it sound BARRIER, hehe.
