No Heating effects

Recommended Posts

I have noticed that when I go through reentry and even with rapid ascent I experience no thermal heating and no Ablator decay. I am running the most recent version of KSP (1.04) and my difficulty settings are unchanged from game launch. It happens in career and sandbox modes and was not an issue before 1.03 to my knowledge. I also suspect that I am experiencing diminished aeroforce but I have not looked into it that much.

I have a few mod's installed (list below), but I have also tried deleting my Game Data folder and then reacquiring it from steam as well as reinstalling and running the game stock and neither seemed to help. Hopefully someone has an answer for me. Thanks!

Hi Lokotor, this may be the stock issue where a missing or unreachable Physics.cfg causes KSP to replace it with incorrect internal values.

Please try the Physics.cfg from this post, replacing the one you currently have in your KSP 1.0.4 folder, and try starting KSP with the KSP.exe directly.

I had this problem recently on windows.....I was told to rename the Physics.cfg to Physics.old. I did this, started KSP again and my heating issue was solved (Restarting KSP created a new default Physics.cfg file). Once I had finished playing, I went back to my KSP root folder and deleted the Physics.old folder.

Hope this helps:)

It looks like in the thread linked by Sal_Vager they also say that starting KSP with a shortcut (steam too maybe?) that it can cause the issue. I tried the physics.cfg and it seemed to not work at first but opening it directly via the .exe along with adding the new .cfg seemed to solve it. thanks for the help guys.
