You're probably thinking of old, old SA. Since it became a serious community site things changed somewhat. The need for paid membership for forum access does help to increase the signal to noise ratio somewhat. The "SA forum goons" as an organised group of MMO troll players is an even more recent phenomenon. But still, not sure why so much info gets posted there, other than the fact that it is a huge (albeit private) community. If SA wants something to go viral, it goes viral. In fact, 4chan could be seen as an "offshoot" of SA.

Last time I used Something Awful (many moons) it was more like 4Chan is described to be now.

Really "fixing" this communication "problem" might see info doled out by a new corporate PR - no tweets, no leaks. Some companies overcorrect to address perceived problems. Forum readers (a huge chunk of which are anonymous guests, no less interested in reading about KSP) just want Squad employees excited about new news, to think forums first, for the posting of it.

This is complete self-sabotage. You want Squad to post here more, and then when they do you snipe at them. I have to tell you, getting attacked by the users of a forum is not the way to encourage people to participate in that forum.

In this case, we know how the (Unity) programmers did it. A single craft will (still) be single-threaded, almost certainly.

To be more specific, it's a restriction in the PhysX framework itself, though you can't get too upset with the PhysX devs. None of the competing physics simulation toolkits that I'm aware of allow a single group of connected rigid-bodies to be spread across multiple threads. That's currently only happening at the research level.

well maxmaps isnt squad and his ramblings arnt always suited to the forum- plus all the details we got was that they are MAYBE getting 64bit going and that he was just out of a meeting about it-is this really worthy of a forum thread? it's not that squad dosnt recognise the forums or dosnt want to post here they just want it to feel official and substantial and not activating the hype train for things that are not certain or not complete. can you please stop whining about the devs having PERSONAL twitter accounts and that they occasionally post minor bits of info on their PERSONAL ACCOUNTS​?

Before we start a personal argument I think it's good to take a step back. We've got a great article filled with information and news coming for the forums tomorrow. Putting something like that together requires a greater coordination between everyone involved than a headline such as the one Max tweeted earlier. For now all I can ask is that we wait for that to come through. We do care about our community here and such extensive pieces are often exclusive to the forum. As people said before it's hard to make a single sentence announcement on a forum, but we love to share in-depth information here - and that's exactly what you'll get.

As an aside I know I've been pushing KPE3 a lot over the past few days, but tune in tomorrow and you might get a first sneak peek at 1.1. That is, if people donate enough money to charity of course! I'll be sure to make the images available so they can be posted here as well, as I'll be busy co-hosting the show together with Ted

It might be, but whether or not we'd want to have such a company policy is something we'd discuss privately within the company, and not on a public forum.

Glad to hear it. Why doesn't the official KSP twitter ever post the little hints and teasers though? It's almost always just retweets of things Max posts on his personal account.

again it's his personal account as long as he didnt break NDA or mislead anyone i dont see how he is not entitled to ramble on as much as he likes on his personal twitter account- i know Kasper rambles a bit too and i am sure badie and anyone else does- his account is not the official account for KSP or Squad please stop treating it like it is

he is a part of a project he likes so yes it is personal. it happened to him and he is excited about it- so because other people care about that he shouldnt express his excitement? as long as he dosnt break NDA he is 100% entitled to put anything he wants to about the game online in his personal account just as much as anyone else.

while he works as squad he isnt Squad or their PR guy he is a part of the team and his words are not necessarily what everyone at squad it thinking or even the company policy.

Actually it sounds to me like you're the one with the confusion.

But in all seriousness it would be cool if the game had a "social media hub" in the main menu that linked to a small part of the KSP website which links to the twitter, tumblr, facebook, etc. Not to mention Reddit, which does not even seem to be linked anywhere on the forum.

i am honestly astonished how hellbent you are after censuring a person in his own account for posting scoops on his project-

A) squad has no obligation to post these scoops on the forum.

let's say they would- would you want them to post 8 word scoops once in a while or actually take the time to get a good informative post done professionally?

C) would you want to work at a company which forbids you from posting stuff about your current project on your personal account (as long as it dosnt harm development)

This has nothing to do with the discussion, which is about where information is available and how many accounts you need to have and follow to keep up on development of the product.
