Hello funkysock, and welcome to the forums!

There are many forum threads and posts about base-building. Try looking around the the Spacecraft Exchange and maybe the Fan Works sections of the forum.

These can give you an idea about which mods you'd like to use, as well.

Happy landings!

Well, FunnySock. You can build a moon base with completely stock parts very easily. If you want to search around for some mods that fit your needs go to kerbalstuff.com. they have everything.

A couple mun base tips:

Don't try to get everything there in a single launch. The key to these things is to send the parts up one at a time

Don't expect to have a huge base, as the game starts to lag when it has to render more than 150 parts

But but but........what have u say about me launching a 300t refinery that was wider then the VAB atop a single rocket in one shot (it was 500 parts, so its own base).

Anyways, about seriousness, i reccomend trying the modular base style. basicaly you deploy parts, and move them around with a rover or other method and place them in the position you like, linking the entire complex together lateron. Its complicated to make, but there is a thread here that shows teh style (and has a few parts that are 100% STOCK you can download to get started). Its a hair outdated, but these parts should still work and it shows you the concept.

Myself, i liek to make both this style and vertically stacked building (vertical is easier to create, less time, but more parts as every component has to have its own dedicated engines/deorbit mechanisms). It is also a little tough to actually line up (as to place a module atop another module u need to basically dock while pushing against gravity the whole time), but its in my oipinuion far easier and less time consuming to do.

the other option 9not as cool as the 2 above methods but the easiest and still functional) is to have separate buildings for everything u want that are just landed in teh same general area and placed nearby, kerbals will walk from one to the other.
