If there was a dating website for computers and viruses...

It\'s good to have two AVs, one specifically for scanning and one for real-time protection.

Malwarebytes/ClamAV are great free scan tools while Avira and others are real-time. Since they aren\'t running simultaneously, they won\'t create conflict between themselves. Now, if you try two scans at once or have two real-time programs, you may have issues.

That\'s an unfortunate problem of all windows updates in my opinion, it seems no matter how small the update, windows nags you to restart the computer.

One thing with Ubuntu, is that it vary rarely requires a restart, and even when it does, it does not ask again after the first time.

I may switch to a Debian based Linux distribution, which can patch the OS on the fly, meaning restarts will be a thing of the past.

I am glad though, that Linus Linux viruses are rare, there are very few and those are targeted at servers alone.

Edit:

I keep hitting S when I type Linux, Grrrrrrr.

Because so few people use Linux. It doesn\'t have Windows\' compatibility.

Though lets not get into that debate again.

I have absolutely no interest in a Linux verses Windows flame war, it just isn\'t an issue to me.

I use Linux because I like it, not because it\'s 'better', and as far as I am concerned, what is important is the programs we use not the OS.

Windows XP is in my mind absolutely fine, but it\'s old, and I had my perfectly legitimate activated copy flagged as stolen by a Windows Genuine Advantage update >:(

So I jumped ship, and Linux allows users to tinker and it\'s fun, so I will keep using it, I have used Vista and I didn\'t like UAC, I have not tried 7 or 8.

Windows is fine, I just prefer Linux, it\'s a personal thing, that\'s all.

That\'s cool. What I meant by \'compatability\' is that Windows runs the programs that I use. So I guess we were both making the same point.

Also:

I figured out why he got 6800 viruses: Internet Explorer.

No, I figured it out. I don\'t have 6800 viruses - Avira does. They are sent the programs for analysis. Its a list of malware that Avira can recognise and stop.
