Orbital SRB challenge!

For this challenge, you have to get into orbit using just SRBs!

Probably VERY HARD!

I'm working on it myself!

IF you land on the mun, I'll be amazed!

I assume you mean "using just SRBs" means using them as the only source of thrust and not as the only parts on your vessel, as you would need a probe core or command pod to launch at all.

I doubt this would be a difficult challenge at all since you can control thrust and fuel amounts in the VAB.

EDIT: It was pretty easy to get to orbit and even get back home safe. Minor changes to your flight profile will have a big impact on your final orbit though. I had to do a de-orbit burn at an unusual place in the orbit in order to not put the periapsis too low.

I think I've seen on the threads somewhere, someone who did a Mun return mission on SRB's only.

I've been doing it wrong!

You were thinking different!

I was trying to use the largest SRBs to get to orbit and back.

I never tried the small ones except for my attempted retrograde burn.

And THAT ended in me being krakened for some reason.

Hazard-ish did a Laythe landing and return in 0.90..no one has beat that record yet I think.

My re-entry is steep, but it would easily be survivable if I hadn't warped so long.... smashing Bob into Kerbin

Difficulty for SRBs will come from precision, mostly transferring to other SOIs and landings. It can be done as seen above, but its a little beyond my patience!
