Crocket's Part Idea Emporium!

Recommended Posts

Hello, and welcome to my part (suggestion) emporium, which is almost explosion-free! Almost.

The first idea I have is basically a big, bulky engine: the LV-B450 "Warthog". It's basically a 1.25m superengine to rival the likes of the Rhino and the Mainsail made by the people at Jeb's Junkyard. It does, however, have a few problems: 1) it's 1.25m, 2) it doesn't function under 1/6 thrust, and 3) it's a fuel guzzler. However, if you're not a fan of/haven't unlocked Rockomax parts it's pretty darned useful. Besides, the (whatever the part of the engine is attached to the fuel tank) is a nice shade of mahogany. It might look a little ugly on a 2.5m or larger fuel tank, but there are such things as adapters. :)

That's really the only idea I have right now: my brain ran out of fuel while circularizing orbit. :sticktongue:

SRBs don't use gimbals in real life that I'm aware of, but I believe that some designs do have thrust vectoring via some kind of internal vanes in the nozzle. I too would like to see 2.5m SRBs, especially if like in SpaceY there's a short fat one that's great for a solid main first stage. Now there'd be one to put thrust vectoring on.

I suspect that Crocket's desire for a high-thrust, low-Isp 1m engine is what the shuttle engine in 1.1 will be already.

actually essentially all the famous ones (arnine 5, STS, etc) are gimbaled and even if I'm wrong they wouldn't be a functional difference between vanes and gimbals in the game itself

LV-B450 "Warthog"

Manufacturer: Jebediah Kerman Junkyard and Spaceship Parts Co.

The Warthog is the response of Jeb's Junkyard to the newer Mainsail and Rhino engines from Rockomax and Kerbodyne respectively. It has a significantly higher thrust than previous LV-T series models, at a cost of fuel efficiency. Despite being inefficient and not quite as high power as the Mainsail, the LV-B450 engine is significantly cheaper due to its construction from pre-made parts.

Maximum Thrust: 1,200 kN

Engine Isp:

atm: 280

vac: 300

Cost: 9200 funds

There's an idea for that Warthog, though I suspect the high power 1.25m Space Shuttle Main Engine coming in 1.1 will definitely suffice.
