Logic Problem in RnD?

Hello, I think I may have found a loophole of sorts related to Research and Development.

So at first, we believe that RnD design and create all of the parts we use on our craft - this is reinforced by what it says in the Very Heavy Rocketry node "...for all other times, we've developed these", right?

But this references to parts from companies we can assume are quite unrelated to KSC, such as Kerbodyne or Rockomax. So are these parts made by KSC or third-party companies? Have I overlooked something or has Squad overlooked something?

Thanks in advance.

Well... the companies actually create the parts (or more often find them by the side of the road/ in each other's backyards filled with water/ etc).

R&D figures out how to attach them with left handed metric wingnuts, stash snacks in them, and make them extra- explodey.

Best,

Huh?

Even the starting parts are made by 3rd party companies. For instance, the MkI pod is produced by Kerlington Model Rockets and Paper Products Inc.

KSC R&D designs (or at least requests) most of the parts, the various companies produce them.

In some cases they're shelf-bought.

Seems like a reasonable explanation.

This is the logic I go by.

Now why there are experimental parts with the exact same stats as the final version, before I even spend the necessary science to unlock them is the real question.

The manufacturers are true geniuses. Most parts never go through more than one iteration after design because they're just perfect as they are, so prototyping and testing is just a case of bureaucracy. It needs to be done to get the paperwork cleared, even though there's no need for it.
