Accidentally toggled heating effects off?

Recommended Posts

I feel really silly asking this--somehow my ships no longer seem to heat up when going at high speed in atmosphere, either when re-entering or in the case of a spaceplane going to orbit. I also get no 'Mach effects'. I opened ALT-F12 and nothing seemed to be turned off. Is there another key that toggles the effects that I might have pressed accidentally?

Would like to have the proper 1.0.4 deadly atmosphere back before my ships reach Eve, because where would the fun be otherwise?

There's a setting for atmo effects in the graphics tab of the main Settings menu, could be that you've turned this off.

The actual heating rate can be set when setting up a new game.

The 'heating bars' are toggled with F10, but that wouldn't stop things from getting hot, it would just stop the bars from appearing to show you they were getting hot.

I believe there is a toggle for re-entry heating in the debug menu, might be worth double-checking.

Lastly, you might have just done a freakishly smooth re-entry. Unlikely, but possible :)

Thanks, will take a look and report back. My other suspicion is that I left a stray config file when installing/removing mods for my kid. Am downloading a fresh 1.0.4 and will try that tomorrow sometime.

ETA: Found it. Culprit was a stray file left over from OPT Spaceplane Parts. All's well and fast air heats things again.
