Here's a fun <4t ion-powered Duna SSTO land-and-return-to-orbit craft...

Landing is a minimal de-orbit burn, drop to 2km, pop the 'chutes, drift down.

Getting to orbit is straight up to about 5km and then a gentle gravity turn to a 55km orbit.
