KAS Refuses To Attach Grabber In VAB

So I was putting together a skycrane for my new rover when I discovered something had changed since I last built my last skycrane. I found I cannot attach the winch directly to a decoupler without the winch being blocked (weird message) and when I attach a magnetic or standard grapple the grapple refuses to attach to anything like the rover while in the VAB.

This means it seems impossible to build a skycrane system now. Does ANYONE have a clue how to build a skycrane now? Do you have to just drop down to the surface and launch the crane off when the rover is on the surface? Way back when I built winch and cable deploying skycranes with ease... Now it is REALLY frustrating to say the least.

Yes, actually. Use one of the ports as the connection between winch and payload, and you don't need a decoupler. Just use an action group to disconnect the port, and the skycrane should fly off on its own.

Nope... Doesn't work either...

Yup... something is going bonkers.

EDIT: Arrrrghhh... I think I am just going to land, drop it off and then take off again. Skycrane just won't work anymore. Used to be soooooo cool too.

Or Connector Port. Just watch out that the flat side is down.
