OK, firstly, I'm not abandoning my other mission report. This is just my RSS stuff.

So I am setting a goal to land a kerbal on Mars and return using RSS without RO.

Ok so let's begin.

Mars Explorer/Lander

Send a lander and map Mars while in orbit.

The lander was on an impact course into the planet due to a dumb mistake by me. It impacted Mars at 4000 m/s. Oops

Well, is that rocket insanely overengineered or do you not have RO/SMURFF installed? All you need is a Titan thing to get something to Mars, not a flippin Saturn V with 51 SRBs.

What was that dumb mistake you made on the lander? Lack of parachute? I didn't see one on there. Good luck going to mars! And don't forget to stop by Deimos on the way, Deimos is awesome!

Yep :-) I don't have RO installed so I took the largest SRB KW Rockety offered and yeah.

The lander hit the atmo at 7000 m/s while the periapse was below ground. It couldn't slow down fast enough.

OK, current plan:

Using hydrogen tanks and engines from NFP, we will be heading to Mars, where we will deploy an SAR probe to scan for landing sites and we will land.

A Venus lander probe will be launched as well.

Following this will be a grand tour of the solar system

The crew capsule has already been tested
