Maneuver Nodes Disappearing After Encounter Calculation?

Recommended Posts

I seem to encounter this issue very frequently. The only thing I can see to do is do a quick reload to get maneuver nodes back after I've calculated an encounter with something. Is there something I am doing wrong to lose maneuver nodes after encounter calculation? I've searched around on the web, and it sounds like others have experienced something similar, but reading posts I wasn't entirely sure.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

KSP Version: v1.04 latest verison on steam. Using Windows 7 64bit.

What Happens: Maneuver Nodes Disappearing After Encounter Calculation

Mods / Add-Ons: All Stock

Playtime: I've played for 55 hours, and have at least a decent understanding of how things work. I've landed on Minmus and the mun and returned safely, in addition to other orbital maneuvers.

Steps to Replicate:

1) Build any craft that can encounter another body (like the mun, minmus).

2) When setting up a gravitational capture by another body, after the node is configured to have an 'encounter' (brown and purple coloring the node), after the input it seems I can't create further nodes. Anywhere I click to create a node does not seem to work.

Result: Can't create new maneuver nodes.

Fixes/Workarounds:

- I save right after I setup my encounter maneuver. Then I reload that immediate quick save and it seems to reset the ability to create maneuver nodes.

Yes, this is a known bug, and unfortunately, AFAIK, there is no solution other than waiting for Squad to fix it or reload the craft (F5-F9, change ships or back to KSC).

If there is an actual solution, I'd be glad to hear it.

Really? Dang. It seems like this bug has been around for years, and it does get decently annoying since it is an integral element to the game. Well, at least I've already stumbled onto one of the workarounds.
