How to have a part check for the presence of another part it's dependant on?

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this has been asked before...I've been digging and cant find anything. Also, if you cant tell, I'm a total noob to modding.

So anyway, I created my own part that works with someone else's mod...I now want my part to only work in the presence of another, active part, that I want to make, that is for a second mod...

Can my part, check for the presence (and activated state), of another part, and then activate itself, ONLY if the other part is also present and activated, by just using an existing MODULE, and/or an addition to my part's config file?

Thanx!

I do not believe so.

No existing MODULE that I am aware of checks for another part (or part's activation state) like this.

It would be a relatively simple thing to code as far as making a custom partModule to do it, but it would be necessary to do so.

:(

Thanx, Diazo :)

I was afraid of that...I'm barely learning to model and create simple .cfgs... ModuleManager and coding is way beyond me yet... :(

I have an antenna/receiver part, that I was hoping to split into just an antenna, and a separate receiver part...meaning one wouldnt work without the other installed and activated...

So since there doesnt seem to be an existing module to do that, based on the nature of the mod my part was made for (Kerbal GPS/Figaro), I'm guessing thats probably why Packled probably didnt create a separate receiver part in the first place...lol
