Why is my Custom Action Group not working?

I have set my Custom Action Group 1 to Jettison the heat shield. Unfortunately when I goto trigger it, it doesn't do anything. I checked the controls and made sure I had it set properly and was pressing the proper key. If it helps, I am using the 2.5m.

Please let me know if you need any more information about the craft.

Did you mount a separator/decoupler above it the right way around?

No. I'll put a decoupler below it. I guess the jettison, just jettisons the heat shield and not below it.

The option to jettison the heat shield doesn't actually do anything I'm afraid. I'm not sure if it was a feature that was meant to be introduced or a remnant from a previous version.

"Jettison" doesn't detach parts. It gets rid of fairings. At least, that's the way it works with engines, and presumably it works the same way with heat shields.

Thanks . I don't see why someone would jettison an engine alone, when you would then have to carry the fuel tank which adds extra un-needed weight.
