Does anyone play KSP on a Surface Pro?

(This might not be the right spot exactly, please move if not.)

I'm considering the top end Surface Pro 4 with 16GB RAM and the 256GB SSD. I'm curious if anyone has used a SP3 or SP2 and has any idea how well it runs KSP and other games on medium/low settings. Thanks!

I have Surface Pro 2, and while I've played KSP on it, I can't say it was a very enjoyable experience. The game runs OK on the lowest settings, but the small screen and cramped keyboard make it hard to see and control what's going on, even with a mouse.

According to the OP, the Surface Pro has 16+256GB of space, which doesn't sound like enough. I have 4TB of available storage in my house distributed across 8 machines, and we're starting to run out of room with that much. There's maybe 280GB left to fill up in the actual computers with keyboards and stuff. I keep having to delete old stuff ;-;.

There's a pretty short list of things that could result in consumption of 4TB, and most of them involve either professional photography/videography or downloading of sub-legal media. I fail to see how any of those things are relevant to whether KSP would run on a Surface Pro 4. Certainly 256GB is enough storage to store KSP and any mods you might be interested in, and 16GB is enough RAM to run it in, even in a theoretical future 64-bit version. The only real question is how the CPU and GPU would handle the load.

...and the internal temperatures...

Yeah, HDD space is not much of a requirement for KSP...You only need between 4-6GB of HDD, and could probably get away with even just 2 or 3GB...

I'm playing on a Surface Pro 2.

Has been an enjoyable experience until 1.04 rising. I back then even used some mods, didn't play on lowest settings and the game was running fine.

Diskspace definetely is not your issue here. I only have the 64GB Version and I'm fine. :sticktongue:

I've been mainly using the SF for design purposes when an idea manifestated. Everytime possible, i try to use my lil brothers gaming tower. Its just nicer for the sake of Visual Enhancements.

Speaking of screensize and Surface comaptibility you should really consider getting an external screen. And we don't even have to talk about KSP-touch-features.

So yes, a top end SF Pro 4 shall definately pass.

And other games? What is "other" games?

Now for those who have, how many of you guys are using it with the i7 chip?

I'm also not worried about the 256GB being a limitation, my desktop right now only has 360GB (3x120GB SSDs).

I have a 21.5" monitor that I use with my desktop. Eventually I will replace it with a larger screen though, if needed I can use the SP4 with it.

Other games would really be anything in my library of 150+ games, anything from Sim City to Crysis 3, Battlefield 4, etc. I'm not looking at the SP4 as primarily a gaming device, but the ability to play all of those is pretty cool. I'm also considering a Razer Blade QHD+ IF they release a new on with a Skylake CPU, the Surface Book with the dedicated GPU, an MSI GS60(I think). Sort of all your ultrabook size devices that have any shot at doing a game or design software decently.

I've been playing on a surface pro 1 i5 with 128GB and 4GB, bought specifically for this game

mid graphics until I started adding mods (base game only takes a couple gigs hdd space, mem is more of an issue)

only downside is the clock is yellow for the entire launch to orbit

runs okay

one word of warning, touchscreen compatibility does not exist...yet
